Before factories, there was the forge.

In the 1800s, blacksmiths were essential to everyday life. They shaped iron by hand to create tools, hardware, and wagon parts that communities depended on. Every piece was made for a purpose. Every detail mattered.

When Charles Hager arrived in St. Louis in 1848, he stepped into that exact world. Working in a blacksmith shop, he forged wheel rims and hardware for Conestoga wagons heading west and built a reputation on skill, quality, and reliability.

As the industry evolved, so did Hager. What started at the forge grew into a legacy of craftsmanship that continues today. That same foundation still drives everything we make.
