Left-hand and right-hand skid steer control arms have different shapes and weight distributions. We designed one custom vacuum lifting tool to handle both.

A three-position balance adjustment lets the operator rebalance the tool for either part, and a pitch cylinder turns the weldment 90 degrees for placement. It hangs from a Gorbel Easy Arm and G-Force hoist, with a gripper safety circuit that helps prevent accidental release while the load is suspended.

Unique lifting problem? We build the tool for it. This portable manipulator arm was engineered for work in a food plant.

The job: lift a 150 lb part out of an enclosed machine from an elevated platform, then set it on a cart at floor level. The arm handles the whole move.

What we built into it:

66 inches of vertical travel to cover the height difference
A 3-position tilt lever (±10°) for precise placement on the cart
Aluminum and stainless steel tooling for a food processing environment
Harrington air chain hoist, with pneumatic disc brakes to lock arm rotation
Fork pockets in the portable base, so it can be moved around the facility
Check valves hold the grip if plant air pressure drops, so the part can’t fall

Steel, plastic, and fiber drums. 15 to 25 inches across. One lifter.

A manufacturing customer was handling multiple drum types by hand, with strain injuries, spills, and inaccurate pours. They asked for a simple drum hoist. We built a crane-mounted lifter and dumper instead:

Flexible Rubber Jaws: Spread the load and maximize surface contact on every drum type.
180-Degree Electric Rotation: Worm gear and momentary controls for precise pouring angles.
Floating Handle: A rodless cylinder keeps the operator’s hands in a safe ergonomic range.
Anti-Drop Circuits and Check Valves: Prevent release in mid air, even if plant air is lost.
Backup Support Jaws: Catch the drum from below if the grip slips.
600 lb. Capacity: Integrated with a Gorbel crane.

The result: safety incidents went to zero, and spills and overpouring dropped substantially.
