The Wildest Chevelle Ever Built? 🔥
Ed Wood’s 1964 Chevelle with an Allison V12 Aircraft Engine!

This isn’t your average Chevy. Back in the '60s, hot rodder Ed Wood from Bakersfield, California, took things to an insane level—by shoving a 1,710-cubic-inch Allison V-1710 V12 aircraft engine into a 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle. That’s right—a fighter plane engine in a muscle car.

Key Highlights:
🛠️ The V12 engine came from a WWII-era P-38 Lightning fighter plane
⚙️ It made over 1,100 horsepower—on pump gas
🔧 Custom 3x4 steel frame, truck suspension, and a body stretch to fit the monster
🚘 Used a special 2-speed Hydramatic transmission with 40% overdrive
🔥 Ran on four Carter AFB carbs instead of aircraft fuel injection

This beast could light up the tires for hundreds of feet without even launching hard. It wasn’t built for the strip—it was built to shock the world.

Ed Wood passed away in 2009, and the current location of this legendary Chevelle remains a mystery. But in the hot rod world, his creation is the stuff of myth and legend.
