We've barely started planting natives due to the ongoing construction work but we finally got Asclepias incarnata incarnata (Swamp Milkweed/Rose Milkweed) planted in the raingarden - and the Monarchs lost no time in finding it.
It feels good to make something, even as tiny as a butterfly, happy. :)

We are a local engineering and landscape architecture firm with a passion for our community and historic structures.

The old window on the left is 100 years old and just needs care. Modern windows do not last this long.

The right window is a window that has already been restored on our office building- ready for another 100 years. It's much work and takes much know-how but it's worth it.

There's something about passing by an old window and watching the differing moving reflections in all the window panes caused by old wavy window glass and by each pane being separately set in putty, making each window pane tilted at a slightly different angle than the others. Old windows create what feels like communication between a house and any passerby who takes the time to notice. ☺️

The business' façade isn't finished but work is starting with parts of the landscaping - here it's Asclepias incarnata (Swamp Milkweed/Rose Milkweed).

This species is perfect for raingardens - it can handle both inundation and dry spells. It's also both beautiful and feeds the Monarch caterpillars.

For those who have been wondering what the finished version of our business will look like, here it is! It makes us happy to have saved an important part of downtown Springdale's history! Downtown Springdale Shiloh Museum of Ozark History

After this is completed, then a lush landscape of locally-native trees, shrubs, vines, grasses, flowers, and groundcovers (designed by our landscape architect) will be planted. 🙂
