Fastener Fun Fact Friday

Ever wonder what a screw size like 1/4-20 x 1.5" actually means?

Here's the breakdown:
• 1/4 = the major diameter of the screw
• 20 = threads per inch (thread pitch)
• 1.5" = the length of the fastener

Metric fasteners work a little differently. A size like M6 × 1.0 × 20mm means:
• M6 = 6 mm diameter
• 1.0 = distance between threads in millimeters
• 20 mm = length

Once you know the code, fastener sizing starts to make a lot more sense.

We had a customer call this AM from Alvin Texas and needed some rivets. The Job-site was shut down because they ran out of these. He said he had tried a few places and no one had them in stock or they weren’t open. At Stevens Fasteners we are open 24/7 for all of your Fasteners, Gaskets, and custom machined component needs.

If you can draw it, we can make! It’s really that simple! We have never been sent a drawing that we couldn’t bring the part to life on. We are always proud to support our youth and it felt good to be recognized as a Top 10 buyer! If you aren’t busy this Saturday at 1pm, head on up to the Klein Multi purpose center so you can buy yourself a few animals. You can buy them and send them straight to the processor to have whatever you want made out of them. You have your pick between Cows, pigs, goats, lamb, rabbits, chickens, or turkeys.
