Halloween time is the season for scary surprises, but you don’t want to find one underneath your trailer next spring. Cracked welds, worn bearings, damaged wiring and corrosion are easier to address while the trailer is already parked for winter. Trailers work hard all summer and are often parked for winter without a second look. Before yours is stored, inspect the frame, coupler, jack, safety chains, lights, bearings and visible welds. Finding a problem now gives you time to repair it before next year’s first haul.

Custom fabrication often starts with a problem, a tape measure and a rough sketch. From there, we determine dimensions, materials, connection points and how the finished piece needs to function. The welding may get the attention, but careful planning is what makes the finished project fit.

A custom gate requires more than choosing a width and welding a frame. We have to consider how the space is used, the opening and ground conditions, the gate’s weight, hinges, supports and the equipment that will operate it. We’re currently working through those details for a customer’s custom project!

Not every welding project can be carried through the shop door. When equipment or structural components are too large, permanently installed or difficult to transport, on-site welding may be an option. Send us photos, measurements and the project location so we can determine the best way to approach it.

As docks come out of the water, mark anything that needs attention before the sections are stacked away. A piece of tape and a quick phone photo can identify a bent bracket, cracked weld or damaged connection that may be difficult to locate later. A five-minute inspection now can save a frustrating search next spring.

Some repairs are much bigger than a cracked bracket. Heavy equipment takes constant wear, weight and impact, and damaged areas often require careful removal, reinforcement and fabrication. Not simply another bead of weld over the problem. Call us if you have a repair you need done on your equipment!
