Construction on the "IOWA GREAT LAKES TRAIL CONNECTION PHASE II & III" is scheduled to commence on September 3, 2024. The Contractor intends to begin on the north section of the project between 270th Street and Fostoria. There will be a shoulder closure along the outside southbound lane of US 71 during construction. There will also be an outside lane closure of southbound US 71 during certain construction activities.

On Monday (10/30/23) morning Valley Contracting plans to close E 30th Street, just east of B Avenue E to construct water and sewer mains across the road for the North Y Gateway Improvement Project. The road will likely be closed to through traffic for at least a week.

2023 East Side Reconstruction & Sewer Separation Project Update for High School Access:

East 4th Street remains closed to thru traffic until the East 4th Street pavements are backfilled and the joints are sealed. Students and staff can access the High School from East 3rd Street via 4th Avenue East or 10th Avenue East. Thank you for your cooperation.

2023 East Side Reconstruction & Sewer Separation Project Update:

The East 5th Street and 6th Avenue East intersection will be closed today, 7/28/23, effective at 10:00 am for underground utility installation and reconstruction of the intersection. East 5th Street residents east of 6th Avenue East will have access from 10th Avenue East. The East 5th Street and 5th Avenue East intersection will be opened temporarily for East 5th Street residents west of 6th Avenue East. 6th Avenue East residents between East 4th Street and East 5th Street will have access from the alley or a temporary access to East 4th Street.

The Road Guy Construction Company plans to start and complete the 2023 Sealcoat project on Tuesday. The locations of the project can be viewed on the map. Residents are asked to please avoid the blocks that the Contractor is working in while construction equipment is present. Access to streets will be available immediately after the cover aggregate has been placed.
