A DTC founder recently asked how many warehouse staff they need to ship 1,000 orders a day. This shouldn't be the first question. The starting question is: how much capacity is already sitting unused in your current process? Most warehouses are leaving 15-25% of their throughput on the table. The unlock isn't always more headcount or more shelves. It's data-driven slotting, fast movers positioned where pickers spend the most time, dead inventory stops eating prime real estate, and every SKU location tracked in real time.
