Soggy Saturday finishing touches on a plan that's been a pain. Not the best process but sometimes we have to reflect on the struggles and learn from them. Between finding out a well drilled in 2017 to replace a shallow spring has a wastewater system less than 100' away as well as seeming to have over 100' of sludgy build-up in the bottom of the well clogging the pump compounding the recommendation to abandon and drill yet another new well and then having to re-design the fields a couple times to shoe-horn into some tight spots so they can renovate the garage structure to be a 3-bedroom house for their family. Glad to be putting this one in the mail on Monday for notifications to neighbors ahead of the final review. On to the next disaster.

Visiting a replacement wastewater system installed by Justin Clark and Rod two summers ago. The curtain drain and swale were working excellently to keep the Groundwater table lower below this mound keeping us from having to use advanced treatment options!

Started the day with water sampling. A required part of certifying construction completed on residential projects with new drilled wells since 2019.

I am not endorsing this meeting or the content but putting it out there for people that may want to sit in to hear what is being discussed and what laws the State says are coming as part of ACT 181. Sometimes it is frustrating to stay on top of these law, rule and policy changes when working across different aspects of site design and planning in the State of Vermont.

Back to college math fun before 8am for buoyant force calculations and recommendations for a tank inside a tank situation. Our brains don't usually imagine an 8000 # tank floating but the math doesn't lie. Buoyancy formula is based on Archimede's principle.

Wyatt and I did some geocaching with the GPS and metal detector today to find some boundary corners we superimposed based on some old maps and aerial images. Now to prepare Zoning Board of Adjustment plans for a new garage for this residence!

Worked with Pumptech the other day to chase out wastewater utility piping, find clean-outs and septic tank for a local facility. We facilitated the access, cut the old rusted clean-out off for an expansion plug, dug for the septic tank (have quoted new access risers to surface), and performed topographic survey for the facility to have current basemap of all their onsite utilities.

Another beauty day it was! Got to see the wrap up of one project, see a woods road restoration project holding up great for another, and then walk a potential property for another good local vermonter. The struggle we see daily of regular Vermonters trying to figure out how to build and afford life here is heart breaking and makes me really frustrated sometimes... but sure let's put more solar panels in prime ag.

You've heard of puxataney phil, well we've got Brownsville Beneze that did not see her shadow today which means 6 more weeks of digging test pits! Wahoo! Today we're investigating for a new home's wastewater disposal area and then topographic surveying for data to draw the site plans.
