This , we’re taking a look at a new Maintainer Signature Series 1 Service Body now in the James W Flett Co., Inc. fleet, built on a 2026 Ford F-550 4x4 Super Cab.

With a combination of organized storage, onboard compressed air and built-in workspace, this truck brings the tools and equipment needed for demanding excavation work directly to the jobsite.

With an 11' body, heavy-duty construction and a thoughtfully configured mix of drawers, shelving and storage, this setup provides plenty of room to keep tools and equipment organized and accessible.

💨 VMACAir H40 Air Compressor
The hydraulic-driven 40 CFM rotary screw compressor provides onboard air for pneumatic tools and other jobsite needs, with a cold-weather package for added versatility in New England conditions.

🔩 Built-In Work & Storage Space
A 26" steel workbench bumper, integrated storage, E-Track and a steel deck add valuable workspace and flexibility for securing and handling equipment on the job.

Road to 100: From the Hews Company Archives 📸

As we look ahead to Hews Company's 100th anniversary in 2027, we're sharing photos and stories from our archives that reflect where we've been and how far we've come.

This archival photo captures The Hews Body Co. at 97 St. John Street in Portland, Maine, where the company moved in 1949. The 40' x 120' quonset building became home to Hews during an important period of growth.

The photo also highlights Hews' work with Superior Buses during that time. By 1954, Hews Body Co. was the sole distributor for Superior Buses in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

It's a snapshot of a time when Hews was expanding its capabilities, fostering partnerships, and growing its presence throughout the region.

More than 70 years later, this photo offers a glimpse into a chapter of Hews history that helped shape the company we are today.

This is just one piece of our history, with many more still to come.

Hews Company partnered with Freightliner & Western Star of Maine to upfit this sharp 2027 Western Star 49X for Barnes Trucking. Outfitted with a Groupe Bibeau BMT-S Heavy Duty Dump Body, this setup is purpose-built to take on demanding hauling and material-handling work.

At 17'6" with 48" sides, this build brings the capacity and durability Barnes needs to move heavy loads efficiently, while thoughtful features make everyday operation easier for the driver and crew.

A great day of good food, good company, and celebrating the people who make Hews Company what it is. 🦞

Last week, the Hews team gathered at our South Portland shop for our Annual Employee Luncheon & Lobster Bake. The day gave us a chance to recognize employee milestones, catch up with teammates, hear from our leadership team and special guests Shelley Morris and Gary Hibma from Maintainer, and, of course, enjoy plenty of steamed lobsters and grilled steaks.

Congratulations to all of our employees celebrating milestones this year! 🎉

We’re also grateful to everyone who helped make the event such a success, and to Maintainer Corporation for generously sponsoring this annual tradition. 👏✨

This , we’re featuring STI Precast Inc.’s new Knuckle Boom Crane Truck, engineered for maximum power and precision during precast concrete deliveries. 🏗️

At the heart of the build is a HIAB X-HiPro 558 Knuckle Boom Crane, giving STI Precast the lifting capacity and reach to confidently load, transport, and place precast products where they’re needed on the jobsite.

Supporting the crane is a Hews custom-fabricated torsion box, built with heavy-duty structural tubing and additional reinforcement to provide a strong foundation for the rear-mounted crane.

Hews also installed the Ridewell RSS-233-20K Self Steering Tag Axle Suspension, Muncie Power PTO, HYDRO LEDUC variable displacement pump, and built-to-spec aluminum headboard to support the truck’s overall functionality and the demands of the application.

A purpose-built truck for a specialized job. 💪
