LUCAS STEPHEN DANIEL PING, age 32, of Woodstock, Kentucky, was born August 7, 1992, and graduated to his heavenly home on February 16, 2025, of natural causes.
Lucas was a patriot and served our country in multiple capacities. From 2014 to 2018, he honorably served as an Infantryman in the United States Marine Corps. Lucas was the embodiment of semper fidelis – always faithful. He also served as an Infantryman in the Indiana National Guard. From 2022 till his passing, Lucas served in Military Intelligence with the Tennessee Air National Guard. In recognition of his extensive training and excellent performance, Lucas was recently promoted to Senior Airman.
First and foremost, Lucas loved his family. He was married to Jordan Gaylor Ping for nearly ten years. Their friendship started in elementary school and evolved into a beautiful love that proved that they were each other’s soulmate. Their union produced two beautiful girls – Juliet Geneva Ping (7) and Scarlett Jo Danielle Ping (3). Many hours of competitive, but boisterous laughing, were had between Lucas and Juliet as they played Pokémon Go. Lucas was lovingly and patiently teaching young Scarlett how to play chess.
Although he lost his dad – Steve Ping – at an early age, his dad’s strong foundation left a legacy for Lucas to build upon. He dearly loved his mom Priscilla Susie Ping-Donahue and was always there for her. Tiffany Ping Dick and Josh Dick – Luke’s sister and brother-in-law – were more than relatives, but the closest of friends. Lucas was good to pour into his niece Piper Elizabeth Bolin and nephew Maverick Stephen Dale Bolin as much as his own two children. Gina Gaylor and Bill Gaylor were caring and supportive in-laws. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lucas was a millwright with his family’s company Cumberland Machinery Movers and Industrial Services. He – quite literally – grew-up in the company, and their employees became lifelong friends. The employees of Cumberland Machinery Movers grieve their great loss.
Lucas’ visitation and funeral services will take place at Southern Oaks Funeral Home, 2110 Highway 914, Somerset, Kentucky. Brother Johnny Dunbar of the Heritage Hope Church of God will bring a word of encouragement at Lucas’ celebration of life service. The visitation will take place from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. (EST), Saturday, February 22nd. The funeral will start at 2:00 P.M. (EST). A graveside service will take place immediately after the funeral at Eden Baptist Cemetery, 7615 Highway 39, Somerset. Pallbearers will be Josh Dick, Seth Tilley, Justin Tilley, Tyler Marcum, James Poynter, David Bennett and Bill Gaylor.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that donations be made to the ‘Keepin it Movin Steve Ping Foundation,’ P.O. Box 1648, Somerset, Kentucky 42502 and ‘Living Bread Soup Kitchen,’ P.O. Box 382, Ferguson, Kentucky 42533. Both organizations are qualified as 501(c)(3) tax deductible.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Lucas Stephen Daniel Ping.
