Noise has a measurable impact on healing environments.

While the World Health Organization recommends peak nighttime hospital noise levels of 30 dB, average hospital noise levels often range much higher. Elevated noise can contribute to sleep disruption, longer lengths of stay, increased medication needs, and caregiver fatigue.
Flooring is an important acoustic consideration in patient rooms and and staff respite spaces. With the right surface selection, design teams can help reduce unwanted ambient noise and create calmer spaces for patients, families, and staff.
