Day 3 at the Ohio Hospital Association Energy, Infrastructure & Innovation Summit focused on powering the future of health care through resilient infrastructure, innovative funding strategies, emergency preparedness and sustainability initiatives.

Topics ranged from Energy-as-a-Service and grant funding to microgrids, onsite generation and strategies to strengthen hospital reliability in an increasingly complex environment.

A highlight of the day was the interactive CELL simulation, where teams managed a hospital system over a 7-year period while balancing budgets, patient satisfaction, reputation and emissions goals through unexpected challenges. Congratulations to Gardiner’s own Michael Mandilakis and his team for taking home the win!

The May issue of Properties Magazine is out, and this month features an article written by our own Marin Musser.

In “A Defining Moment for Building Owners,” Marin breaks down the three major forces reshaping HVAC decisions right now: refrigerant transition, electrification, and the narrowing window on energy-efficiency incentives. It’s a straightforward look at what building owners are up against — and why planning ahead matters more than ever.

One point that stands out: the biggest risk for many facilities may not be making the wrong decision… it’s waiting too long to make one at all. Between evolving refrigerant regulations, equipment lead times, and incentives tied to projects beginning before mid-2026, timing is becoming a critical part of the conversation.

We’re proud to see Marin sharing practical insight that helps owners make informed, long-term decisions for their facilities.

Meet Ray Webb – Director of Fire & Security.

It’s no surprise that Ray has become well known both around Gardiner’s offices and with our clients – decades of experience in fire and security, plus a sharp sense of humor, make him hard to forget. But despite being with Gardiner for only a little over four years, it’s been his level of care, both for his team and for every project he’s involved with, that has made him a paramount piece to Gardiner’s long-term success.

His team-first attitude has made everyone in our Gardiner Fire & Security division better - and his vast knowledge and ease in connecting with our clients has established Gardiner as an industry leader in fire & security. People like Ray show that no matter the scale, no matter the scope, we don’t just handle building challenges - we work as your trusted partner the entire way.

This is How Gardiner Does It.

Memorial Day weekend always brings a lot of excitement around cookouts, summer plans, and time with family. But before all of that, it’s important to remember why the holiday exists in the first place.

Today we’re thinking about the men and women who gave their lives serving our country, along with the families who continue to carry that sacrifice with them every day.

We’re grateful for their courage, their service, and the freedoms we sometimes take for granted because of it.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.

Gardiner is proud to support Elyria Robotics Team 11124X – The Butterfly Effect – as they represented Elyria in St. Louis this season. The team finished 4-8 in their division, placed 60th overall, and ranked 293 in skills out of the 865 best robots in the world. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the program continue to make the Elyria community proud.

This sponsorship was especially meaningful because of the connection to our own team. One of our associates, Chris Hickman, has a son on the robotics team, giving us the opportunity to support not only a local program, but also one of the families that is part of Gardiner.

At Gardiner, we believe in supporting the communities where we live and work and investing in opportunities that help students grow, collaborate, and build skills for the future. Congratulations to Team 11124X on a strong season and on representing Elyria with pride.

But it’s her commitment to our clients - going above and beyond, building long-term relationships, and ensuring the job is done right - that has made her stand out even more.

With technicians like Joy, it’s no wonder business owners across Northern Ohio trust that when they see Gardiner on the job site, they know they’re working with the best in the industry.

Great conversations and valuable insights yesterday at Health Alliance’s ConnectNEO 2026 conference.

One of the biggest takeaways from the opening panel was hearing healthcare leaders speak candidly about the challenges organizations are facing today — balancing patient care, aging infrastructure, operational demands, and financial pressures all at once. A quote that really stuck with us came from MetroHealth CEO Christine Alexander when she said her job is to “squeeze 13 cents out of every dime.” A simple but powerful reminder of the realities healthcare systems are navigating every day.

The day wrapped up with a strong fireside chat featuring County Executive Chris Ronayne, focused on regional growth, collaboration, and the importance of investing in Northeast Ohio’s future.

Events like ConnectNEO continue to bring together leaders across healthcare, business, and the community to have meaningful conversations around the future of our region, and Gardiner was grateful to be part of it.
