A few throwback photos to when we used to fish for-And catch giants daily in July. The sockeye fishing is way better now than it was back then, but if you were up for a real challenge where you had to earn your reward with time and skill, big second run kings were second to none.

It’s supposed to be another good year for sockeye. Who doesn’t like the fast action sockeye can often provide!

These spots typically book out 6–12 months in advance, so it’s not something we see often. We expect them to fill quickly, but wanted to put it out there in case anyone has been hoping for a last-minute opportunity. These are peak season sockeye dates. Expect lots of action!

The waterfowl migration is a sure sign of spring! Thousands of specks, cacklers, snows, swans and ducks on the kenai flats this afternoon.

Ever wanted to go back to the “Good old days” of fishing? Well, right now we very likely are living in the good old days when it comes to sockeye salmon. The Current management plan allows for a 6 fish limit per person, and paired restrictions let extra sockeye into the river. It’s a win-win for sockeye anglers. This could all change in a single BOF cycle, so if you are putting off your trip to Alaska for another year you might just be missing out on some of the best years of sockeye fishing.

We have some limited availability left for summer of 2026-but if you call soon we might be able to fit you in!
