We love showing off our new facility and sharing what our team does at SMI, thanks GAM for allowing us to host the Operational Excellence Council event today.

Manufacturing is hard so anytime you can share best practices or learn from others it’s a win. Metal fabrication specifically is making a strong comeback in today’s world, we’re glad to be a part of it and share it with others.

Out of an abundance of caution, and for the safety of our team and others, we will evaluate the weather and road travel situation at noon Wednesday and make a decision on whether or not to open for business.

This happened at our new facility in Social Circle yesterday!
New Amada CLT laser automation arrived and installation began.

And we now have a monument sign at the street so you can find us.

SMI Social Circle update.

Has been said before but I believe we are actually getting close to being done this time. Cleaning crew in last week, trying to get inspectors in this week, and Amada America working on an equipment move plan.

Just returned from the 2023 Great Game Of Business conference in Kansas City with a few of my team and several other business partners. A lot of good content, a few things to work on, and a lot to digest. The coming years will be a challenge if you’re not ready…our team at SMI will not only be ready, we’re preparing to take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead!

Building update.
Things are really starting to move fast again! Drywall hung, concrete started, parking lot ready for asphalt, exterior almost finished (office trim change coming), building power plan in the works…a beehive of activity daily.
Time to start planning the move.

Building update.

The exterior team is making good progress and our color scheme is bringing it to life!

Also blown away with the attention to detail the team at Escoe Electrical has taken with every aspect of their part of this project. The conduit work alone is a piece of art! Ronnie Griffin has been our electrician for over 20 years and knows our equipment intimately, I not only consider him a trusted business partner but a personal friend and would recommend them for any project. Their also handling the mechanical/air system needs for our production facility.

Coming soon: Paving preparation, Georgia Power main feed line, additional fire sprinkler line & hydrant and inspections.

Building project update!

After a handful of months things have not only restarted but are moving along at a rapid pace. Building shell complete. Office electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and sprinkler almost ready for inspection. Exterior finish started last week, curbing complete, paving and concrete coming in July.

82,000 square feet of production space getting prepared to welcome our state of the art precision metal fabrication equipment and talented team. To say we are excited would be an understatement, the anticipation grows weekly as we watch our vision come to life before our eyes. Projected completion November 2023!
