DMT is a world class designer and manufacturer of custom workholding fixtures and clamping systems. We specialize in hydraulic and manual fixtures for applications in both high and low volume production environments. DMT has a broad range of customers including American Axle, Mercury Marine, TESLA, Case New Holland, & many more.
Position Description
CNC Machinist with 3 axis vertical and or horizontal experience (4th & 5th axis experience a plus)
Looking for good machining experience and someone willing to learn and grow across different machining operations.
The environment at DMT is fast paced and interesting due to low volume and a large variety of highly engineered components. Each machinist is expected to think critically and use judgement to continuously improve and provide the highest value to our customers. Due to this environment we are looking for a motivated and flexible employee that enjoys working on multiple types of machines and as needed outside their department. Ability to accommodate overtime as needed is important to provide our customers with a high level of service.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Setup and operation of CNC vertical machining centers.
o Tooling selection and setup
o Calculation of proper speeds, feeds etc.
o Working Knowledge of “G” code programming (programs completed offline but general edits etc. at the machine as needed)
Compliance to personal protective equipment requirements including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed shoes
Ability to utilize basic gauging to validate component specifications including pin gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, thread gauges, etc.
Basic print interpretation including basic dimension and print call outs along with GD&T
Ability to accurately complete production cards and standard manufacturing based documentation
Ability to appropriately dispose of chemicals and any hazardous wastes
Ability to use computer based print system to access specific prints
Skills and Knowledge Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Requires the ability to understand general manufacturing, mathematics, blue print reading, geometric tolerancing, statistical process control and mechanical comprehension of machining
Ability to use basic hand tools, torque equipment and required inspection equipment
Effective Verbal and written communication skills with positive attitude
Effective planning, organizational abilities, exhibits initiative and accountability maximizes use of time management
Detail oriented as to the analysis data, ability to use judgment and independent thinking to assure safe, accurate completion of assignments while meeting quality standards
Demonstrated knowledge in the use of CNC machine controls
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
In a standard workday this person will be required to stand 65%, walk 20%, lift 10%, bend, squat, and stoop or twist 5%.
While tools are provided to aid in lifting this individual will be required to lift materials up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Visual requirements include blueprint reading abilities, eye-hand coordination, fine print, gauging and computer spreadsheet applications.
Awareness of your surroundings and the safety of other machinists, builders, and other employees.
