Our office retrofit keeps moving forward — the second truss is now set, and the barrel‑roof framing is tied in around it.

Temporary bracing is doing its job while we work through the sequencing, and each step brings this old structure a little closer to its new life.

Good progress, good crew, and a very satisfying phase to watch come together.

The Waller Street Apartments in Salem are now complete and fully occupied. Our civil scope centered on upgrading the existing water system, which did not have the capacity to serve the new development.

The project required significant water main improvements, including upsizing and extending the public water main to the site, to satisfy the required fire flow demands.

This is a good example of why civil engineering is so often overlooked but absolutely essential — without the right infrastructure in place, the project simply wouldn’t have been buildable.

We recently wrapped civil engineering for the "Golden Girls" residential complex in Salem designed for shared living.

One of the key site constraints was stormwater. Limited infiltration area and tight utility corridors left us with few viable options, and a portion of the site required pervious paving to meet stormwater management requirements.

Pervious pavement isn’t something we specify by default. In this case, the pervious system provided the only feasible way to infiltrate runoff within the available footprint while keeping flows on‑site and avoiding downstream capacity impacts.

Another rewarding project!

Getting ready for the first of the new trusses in our new 7 Oaks Office!

We’re in the middle of a structural retrofit on this older building — temporary bracing set, load paths checked, and the first of two new trusses installed to carry the updated roof system.

A good milestone in bringing this structure forward while keeping its character intact.

The new Hunsaker Dental clinic is officially open.

From a civil engineering perspective, this site presented significant constraints for stormwater management and accessibility. The design required precise elevation control to maintain positive drainage, route flows to the adjacent rain gardens, and meet all stormwater performance standards—while also achieving ADA‑compliant grades and fitting every improvement within a very limited footprint.

Seeing a site with this level of complexity come together as a clean, efficient, and fully compliant facility is incredibly rewarding.

Congratulations to Hunsaker Dental on their new South Salem location.

Rebuilding essential infrastructure in the Santiam Canyon continues....

This site required ground improvement with geopiers to support the building foundation, septic system, stormwater basin, and parking areas.

Construction is progressing, and it’s encouraging to see a facility that will bring improved critical services back to the area!

As construction has begun, we know many questions have been raised in the community — and we want to share the story behind what you’re seeing.

When we purchased the old Cooley's Iris Garden Nursery building, we made a deliberate choice to preserve its history rather than tear it down. The moment we saw the barrel‑vaulted roof, we knew this building had a soul worth protecting. Even though the original clay brick tile walls were failing, the structure needed significant retrofitting, and the roof was draining inward — creating real risks for long‑term water intrusion — our commitment stayed the same: invest in the building’s character, not replace it.

To do that, we reconstructed the compromised walls, added insulated windows, corrected the drainage issues, extended the barrel roof on both the front and back, and incorporated a merchant‑style façade inspired by Silverton’s historic downtown. These choices required more investment than starting fresh, but they allowed us to honor the building’s past while ensuring it stands strong for decades to come.

This restored space will soon become the home of 7 Oaks Engineering — a firm proudly rooted in this community. We’re excited to carry forward the legacy of this special place.
