Rear track bar let go on a Jeep. I won't say the manufacturer, as they do make great products, this particular one was just old and (very) abused. Replacement part was $200 plus tax and shipping. Factor in a week waiting, and option 2 was taken:

40 minutes and less than 1/3 the price.

The factory weld let go on this Victory Motorcycle's shifter linkage. A replacement part with the same tiny robot weld would have cost around $45 before shipping and sales tax. I'm proud to say my price to fix the part and make it stronger (without having to wait for shipping) was cheaper.

Fun repair from a while back. Snapped bolt that had corroded to the winch. After several extraction attempts, it was decided that the only way to get it out was to cut the winch and build it back up with weld.
