This has been a bit of a slow burning project --
End of summer we were asked to repair this deck. The middle footing was moving away from the house and down the hill, pulling the post away and cracking the beam.
We discussed several different solutions with the homeowner and decided that removing the center post after installing two helical piles and posts would be the best option since the hill was mostly fill dirt. Unfortunately the first helical pile driving machine couldn't get into position without carving a whole new road, and with the head space being quite limited, positioning a boom was going to be challenging.
Techno Metal Post Evergreen was about to purchase a small walk-behind pile driver so we all decided to wait until it arrived. Well the machine arrived late December and they were able to drive the piles in this week! It was quite an interesting process and Andrew Two Lakes Welding got to weld the couplings for them. The piles ending up extending 10.5' deep to reach the required PSI to carry the load.
We will be finishing up the post and beam repair next week -- stay tuned for the finished pics and the homeowner's killer view!
