A four foot piece doesn't require buying twenty feet. Hauling a full length is its own problem, and most of it ends up in the scrap pile anyway.

Hitchin Post cuts steel to the size and length you order. Round and square tubing, angle, channel, flat, rebar, and plate. The drop rack covers the odd sizes that a full length would waste.

Ranch work, shop repairs, and weekend projects around Sierra Vista rarely need a full stick. Buy the piece the job calls for.

Pool builds across southern Arizona pick up in October, once the monsoon risk is gone and crews aren't fighting the heat. A pool build starting now is generally ready to fill sometime this winter.

The fence is the last thing most people plan and the one thing that holds up the fill. Arizona requires a five foot enclosure with no gap a four inch ball can pass through, gates that self close and self latch at fifty four inches, and gates that swing away from the water. The inspector checks the barrier before the pool is allowed to hold water.

A pool fence has to clear all of that and still look like part of the house, not something bolted on afterward. Hitchin Post fabricates custom steel pool fencing and gates to measurement.

Picking the wrong material for a commercial job is expensive to undo later.

Steel gives the most strength per dollar and takes almost any finish, but it rusts without a coating.

Aluminum weighs about a third of what steel does and will not rust, though it is softer, costs more per pound, and welds differently.

Stainless resists corrosion with no coating at all, which is why it ends up in kitchens, labs, and wash-down areas. It also costs the most and takes the longest to work.

Hitchin Post stocks all three and cuts and welds all three, including MIG, TIG, and arc. Once you know the application and the budget, the choice is straightforward.

Schools and county buildings in Sierra Vista and Tucson are back at full occupancy, and loose stair rails get noticed fast.

Every stairwell is slightly different. Rail work starts with measuring the one you have, including the run, the rise, and how the existing rail is mounted. The replacement section is fabricated to those measurements rather than cut from a standard length, so it fits the first time and the crew is not back a second time to correct it.

Loaded stock trailers move across Cochise County all fall. The weight on the ball is rarely the weight the factory hitch was rated for.

Hitch classes are rated by gross trailer weight and tongue weight. A Class 3 handles a different load than a Class 5. A gooseneck or a fifth wheel carries the load over the rear axle instead of behind the bumper, which changes how the truck holds it.

If the rating does not cover the load, the hitch gets replaced with one that does. We do hitch installation, up to and including Class 5, gooseneck, and fifth wheel. Some vehicles have no catalog hitch rated for what they actually pull, and older trucks and modified beds often fall outside what the suppliers list. You can get a hitch built to the vehicle instead of a close match that you force to fit.

The trailer's loaded, the rating's right, and you're not thinking about it again.

Cochise County contractors do not have to drive to Tucson for material.

Hitchin Post carries the largest selection of common steel sizes, thicknesses, and lengths in the county. Common steel comes in 20-foot lengths, with schedule 40 pipe at 21 feet. The racks hold round tubing, square tubing, rebar, flat steel, hot and cold rolled rounds, channel iron, and angle iron, along with rolled sheet and plate, expanded metal, perforated, and diamond plate. Aluminum and stainless sit alongside the steel.

There is a separate drop selection for uncommon sizes and shapes. Anything not in the yard can be ordered in, and deliveries arrive twice a week.

Plenty of what breaks on a ranch or a jobsite cannot be put on a trailer.
