Early June is the dry, windy stretch before the monsoon reaches Cochise County.

Brush and rangeland stay tinder-dry, and wildfire risk runs high until the rains arrive. The materials closest to your house decide how much fuel a fire finds there.

Before you replace something broken, it's worth asking whether it can be welded instead.

A trailer tongue bent from backing into something, a gate hinge that finally gave out, a lawn tractor deck cracked where it always cracks, or yard tools snapped at the joint can usually be repaired for less than the cost of buying new.

Tucson's monsoon season runs from June 15 through September 30. The winds that arrive with it test every gate hinge, fence post, and panel that's been baking in the sun all spring. May is the window to handle repairs before the first storm.

Construction in Cochise County doesn't slow down. Contractors, welders, and fabricators in the area need material on hand and on schedule.

Hitchin Post sells steel direct. Round and square tubing, schedule 40 pipe, rebar, channel iron, angle iron, and hot and cold rolled rounds. Flat steel, sheet, plate, diamond plate, and expanded metal. Cut to length on request.

Cochise County runs working cattle operations. The trucks and trailers that support them get used hard on rough terrain and under full load.

Hitchin Post installs goose necks, fifth wheels, receiver hitches, and fold-away hitch systems. We also fabricate fuel transfer tanks, tool boxes, and truck racks built to what the job actually requires.

Arizona requires a breakaway braking system on trailers carrying over 2,000 lbs. We install those too.
