⚠️ DIFFERENTIAL BREAK-IN WARNING ⚠️
Fresh ring & pinion gears REQUIRE a proper break-in period — about 500 miles of normal driving and heat cycling to allow the gears to mesh properly and prevent irreparable heat damage.
The photos below show what excessive heat and metal contamination can do to a gear set. The hardened surface on the ring gear has been overheated and worn off, which leads to whining/howling noises and premature wear.
This setup is NOT being considered abuse in this case — but it’s still a great example of why break-in procedures matter.
Fresh gears + too much heat too early = damaged gears.
Take it easy during break-in. IT MATTERS!

Old Clutch carrier on the left, upgraded Helical carrier on the right. We try to install components that don’t come with factory-installed personality issues and inherited design flaws. 😜

Because rebuilding the same weak setup over and over is kinda like putting the same ex back in your life and expecting peace and quiet... 🤨

Stronger parts. Better design. Less drama in the rear end. 💪

Water damage in a rear end is kinda like toxic relationships… once the pitting starts, the whining never really goes away.🫠

This ring gear came in with heavy pitting from moisture contamination, and once those gears start eating themselves up, no magic fluid or ‘turn the radio up’ fix is gonna quiet it down.😵‍💫

If your rear end starts sounding like it’s holding onto emotional trauma at 45 MPH…🫣

It might be time to get it checked before the damage gets worse😅

Towed in from another shop and customer wanted to verify the diagnostics. Found out it was not what was originally quoted to customer and we were able to save him some time and money.
