The new SporTran City Parking Lot is under construction! Workers began pouring concrete at 2:00 a.m. today. About a third of the parking lot was poured. When finished, the lot will provide parking for eighty vehicles, including handicap-accessible spaces.

Owen Engineering, LLC is looking to hire a part-time engineering technician / draftsperson. This will include flexible hours, 2 to 3 days a week, at our Shreveport office downtown. We offer health insurance and paid vacation and holiday time. Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required. Familiarity with HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS is a plus. Merry Christmas everyone! The Truck Shed at the Blanchard Compactor Site #2 is complete and in service. The shed features six open bays and four enclosed bays, 250 feet in length with a 50 feet depth. Overhead doors are 14' x 14'. James W. Dean was the architect on the enclosed portion and our office designed the building and foundation.

The Clyde Place-Vivian Road Bridge, between Oil City and Belcher, is complete and open to traffic! Contractor was Chief Bridge and Concrete, LLC. The bridge is a three-span, 24 foot clear span precast concrete slab span bridge. Today's reinforced concrete bridge is remarkably different than steel structures built in the 1940s. The tall steel structure in the photo was inspected by our company a few years ago. Note the reinforced concrete base for the steel columns that makes a convenient place to take notes.

C. C. Antoine Park continues to grow under the construction management of Testament Construction Services, LLC. Project is set to be completed on January 2, 2025. The first concrete pour on the concrete children's slides was made this week.

Construction continues at the C. C. Antoine Park Expansion project in Shreveport, Louisiana. The restroom building walls are being built, retaining wall "A" continues to go up, and the formwork is being placed for the concrete slide.

Construction is complete on the Old Mooringsport-Latex Road Bridge in Caddo Parish. This three-span, 24' clear precast concrete slab span bridge was completed on time and within budget by Chief Bridge and Concrete, LLC of Minden, Louisiana for a cost of $799,237.

The Caddo Parish maintenance shed is up and in operation! The shed, located at Monty and Taft in Shreveport, near the Caddo Animal Shelter, has an 18' eave height and is 250' long x 50' deep. Lights are motion sensor controlled. Edmonds Engineering of Shreveport provided the electrical engineering. The building and foundation are designed for current wind load conditions - 120 mph winds at a 3 second gust. The shed will be used to store Caddo Parish fleet equipment and vehicles.

Not much to see here yet, but construction on the C. C. Antoine Park Improvements Project in Shreveport, Louisiana has begun. Most of the site is cleared and preliminary grading has started. This park will have a concrete slide - the first of its kind in the state of Louisiana. Contractor is Testament Construction Services, LLC of Shreveport.

The Parish of Caddo Public Works Maintenance Building is open and parish workers from the Vivian camp are moving in. The project architect was James W. Dean Architect, LLC. Owen Engineering provided project management and civil / structural services.

Good morning! Today is National One Call Day!

The Louisiana Damage Prevention Law became effective in 1988. This law requires excavators and demolishers to call a regional notification center at least two full business days before they begin their work.

The law also requires owner/operators of underground utilities or facilities to mark locations or supply information that will enable excavators and demolishers to determine the approximate location of underground utilities and facilities. At the time the law passed, a non-profit notification program called DOTTIE (Dial One Time To Inform Everyone) had already been at work protecting vital underground facilities for more than a decade.

Today that program is known as Louisiana 811. The service is free to anyone who disturbs the soil, individuals or companies, whether they work with heavy equipment or hand tools. A simple phone call to 811 will enable you to receive this free service.

Remember - always call 811 before digging!
