Position Overview
The Non-Ferrous Metal Worker will support operations by providing strong customer service in a timely, professional and courteous manner. General Scrap Material Non-Ferrous Metal Worker is responsible for the accurately entry/identification/sorting of materials purchased while adhering to all company, state and federal regulations. This is an hourly position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday 7:45AM – 4:15PM. The right individual will be flexible as working hours may extend beyond regular business hours. Non-Ferrous Metal Worker will be responsible for the process of extracting and loading the material to be transported. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1. Greet and assist retail customers in purchasing non-ferrous scrap metal creating a positive customer experience.
2. Requires outside work and work in non-climate controlled environments year round.
3. Accurately grading material and input transaction “in-house “system.
4. Operate small material handling equipment as necessary to move materials for processing
5. Assist and direct customers to proper location to unload materials.
6. Inspect for existence of flammable, radioactive, hazardous materials.
7. Inspect materials for liquids, non-metallic and all other posted or non-posted materials that are non-acceptable (i.e. concrete, wood, etc.)
8. Ensure that any materials not allowed are not left on Company property.
9. Remove and properly store any items or material.
10. General duties involving physical handling of materials, supplies, etc.
12. Will assist other workers as needed.
13. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED, computer and verbal communication skills required.
2. 1-year experience of general labor in an industrial /outdoor work environment.
3. Customer service to public or vendors preferred.
4. Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with customers.
5. Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more as required.
6. Must wear all necessary PPE while working or while in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times.
7. Knowledge of scrap materials a plus.
8. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
9. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
10. Ability to work with others and be part of the team.
11. Ability to work beyond regular work schedule
