Understanding exactly how air purification affects aerosols requires more than measuring whether particles are present—it also requires insight into their size distribution.
For the research studies at the U.S. EPA’s Aerosol Test Facility, the TSI Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS) system is used to characterize aerosol particle size distributions during studies of emerging technologies for indoor air treatment.
The work, conducted in collaboration with Blueprint Biosecurity, is exploring far-UVC, antimicrobial v***rs, and other approaches that could potentially add another layer of protection to occupied indoor spaces.
