🏆 Congratulations to Kenneth “Beau” Farmer, CTO at TSI Incorporated, on receiving the Best Presentation award from the International Society for Respiratory Protection ( )!

Beau presented “Real-Time Operational Assessment of CBRN Respirator Protection During Military Activities” at the Conference in Montreal, Canada (October 19-23, 2026).

The work, done under a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding between Canada, the Netherlands, and Sweden, used the TSI OmniCount™ Wearable Respiratory Protection Assessment System (WRPAS) to measure respirator performance in real time. Test subjects in full warfighting gear performed around 28 standardized military activities in a TNO wind tunnel. The findings show that real-time wearable measurement can reveal fit failures and activity-specific vulnerabilities that static fit testing can miss.

🌏 Measuring aerosols high in the Himalayas: where every particle tells a story.
At approximately 3,450 meters above sea level in Ladakh, in the Indian Himalayas, researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) are investigating atmospheric particles in a unique high-altitude environment. At this elevation, lower air pressure, complex mountain terrain, and the transport of pollutants over long distances make aerosol measurements particularly valuable for understanding atmospheric processes.

Using a TSI Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS), the research team measured particle size distributions to support studies of particle formation, growth, and pollutant transport in this remarkable region.

We’re proud that IIT Madras continues to choose TSI instruments for its environmental research. Supporting scientists as they investigate atmospheric processes in challenging environments is at the heart of what we do.

A big thank you to Prof. Sachin Gunthe and the IIT Madras team for taking TSI technology into the Himalayas and advancing aerosol science!
