4/24/26 ~ I wanted to share some bittersweet news with everyone.
After 21 years in business, I’ve made the decision to sell and close Rusty’s Auto Parts here in Shell K**b. The business assets have been purchased by O'Reilly Auto Parts, who will be opening a new location just down the street, likely within the next 30 days. We will remain open at our current location to serve you until the O’Reilly’s team opens their new store. At that time, we will be closing our doors.
As many of you know, I was born and raised in the automotive repair and parts business. I can’t thank my grandparents, Ron and Pat Rickard, enough for helping me get my start. I took over their auto parts business 21 years ago, and they trusted me to carry the family business forward. This business has always meant a great deal to me. It’s been incredible to watch it continue to serve the community and grow over the years, thanks to the hard work and dedication of an outstanding team.
I especially want to thank our employees—past and present—who have been the backbone of this business, especially in recent years with me working more behind the scenes. And to our customers, thank you for your continued support and loyalty. In a small town like Shell K**b, relationships mean everything, and that’s what this business has always been about.
Many people have asked what the future holds for the building we are currently operating in. While nothing is finalized yet, it will listed for sale or likely sold at auction in the near future. If you have a serious interest, feel free to reach out.
