After nearly 20 years as a Jabiru importer / distributor it is time for me to retire. It has been my privilege to work with so many talented aircraft builders over the years. I have learned so much from this group of innovative, entrepreneurial craftsmen. The interaction with homebuilders is something I will miss.
It is time for some new blood with more energy and creativity than I can muster to care for all the Jabiru customers and aircraft builders. Nick Otterback, owner of Arion Aircraft, LLC and designer of the Lightning airplane is just the man for that job and he has taken over the Jabiru engine, firewall forward, parts and service business. Nick is very well qualified in the world of Jabiru as he and his crew have produced nearly 200 Lightning kits and LSA aircraft with most of them powered by Jabiru engines. Arion Aircraft has fully qualified repairmen on staff who are already experienced in Jabiru engine service, overhaul, repair and upgrade. I know Nick will do a great job for his customers.
I will be hanging around for a while helping with tech support and in general helping in the business transition. Engine and parts orders in the Jabiru North America pipeline before April 1st, 2018 will be fulfilled by Jabiru North America, LLC and when those deliveries are completed the company will close for good.
Again, it has been an honor and privilege to represent Jabiru all these years.

New pricing for 2018 J230-D is going to be about $149,900 for a fully-equipped aircraft with a 10" Garmin G3X touch-screen display, remote Garmin com and transponder, 2020 compliant ADS-B Out and Weather/Traffic receiver, 2-axis autopilot, leather seats, and LED night lighting package.

What a deal, considering a base model 2018 Icon A5 is $269,000 and you don't even get a radio, transponder, or wheels! (Or an airplane, for that matter... base models won't ship til 2019!)

Icon Aircraft told deposit holders yesterday that prices for the closely watched light sport would be going up about 30% for a base model and more than 50% for a fully loaded aircraft.

Jabiru engine operators and LSA owners in the USA, please take note. We have reissued Australian service letter JSL-008, Valve Spring Top Washer Adverse Wear, to ensure that all owner/operators of Jabiru Light Sport aircraft in the USA are aware of it. It applies to all Jabiru engines, so we highly recommend that owners of Jabiru powered Experimental Amateur-Built aircraft also comply with this inspection regularly. Please make sure your mechanic knows about the inspection requirements in this letter and that the inspection is complied with at the next engine service. This little Australian Jabiru is serial number 5-- one of the original Jabiru aircraft that was delivered in 1993. Still with its original owner, it now has over 4,000 hours, still going strong!

Brian Rule owner of Jabiru 55-0722 visited us here at the Jabiru factory recently while his engine had a top end overhaul. While he was here he gave us the history of his much loved Jabiru.
His Jabiru LSA is serial number 24 and it is 24 years old this year. Brian purchased the aircraft in 1993 with a 1600 engine (Serial No. 5). He flew 1000 hours with this engine and then changed over to a solid lifter 2200 in 1998. (22A362) This engine reached it’s TBO of 2000 hours however instead of having a full overhaul at this time Brian decided to upgrade to the new hydraulic lifter engine in 2011 (22A3472).
22A3472 is now here at the factory in 2017 having a top end overhaul after 1000 faultless hours.
Over the last 24 years, 55-0722 has flown from Melbourne to Darwin and everywhere in between clocking up 4036 private hours with approximately 14,500 landings.
