🏌️♂️ Managing for Toughness: A Look at My Own Lawn. ⛳️📏
I’m out here in my yard because I want you to see exactly how this works in real time. Most people assume a green lawn is just about a schedule, but the truth about a tough lawn starts 6 inches under the surface.
Golf courses don't stay green under heavy traffic and Oklahoma heat by accident. They manage the infrastructure. They treat their turf like an athlete, and that’s exactly what I’m doing here.
Why the LawnCaddie™ is my go-to:
The 6-Inch Reality: One rain doesn't fix a "brick" of soil. I’m using the LawnCaddie today to see if this moisture actually reached the root zone. If it doesn't sink 6 inches, the soil is closed for business. It needs healing before it can ever be drought-tolerant. 🧱📏
Infrastructure for Life: I want my lawn to handle kids, pets, and the sun without thinning out. By finding the "tight" spots now, I can fix the root cause and build a foundation that lasts. When the soil is open, the roots anchor deep. 🏃♂️🐾
The "Oklahoma Umbrella": I’m keeping my Bermuda at 2” (and 3” for Fescue). Using the gauge on the LawnCaddie cap ensures I’m not scalping my progress. That taller canopy naturally shades the dirt and keeps this "free" rain in the ground where it belongs. ☀️☂️
We’ve been doing this since the pasture days-doing the most with what nature gives us. No messy dyes, just results.
