is based on the end users perceived risk, mitigation objectives and our own experiences. We believe there is no perfect safety or rescue solution. However, when rescue systems are installed, and employees are properly trained, the risk of a serious man over board event decreases significantly. AutoCrew - Based on customer feedback, MRT has designed a web-based, automated POB/Muster System called AutoCrew. AutoCrew offers Automated POB and Muster Drill Management, Personnel Logistics, Gangway Management, Bunk Allocation, Automated Reports, and multi-lingual interface across all customizable offerings. AutoCrew is specifically designed to better manage and prepare companies at a local or enterprise level for crew management, training, and emergency drills.

At Mahia Beach in New Zealand, a rare and remarkable rescue unfolded in the ocean.

A mother pygmy s***m whale and her calf repeatedly stranded on the shore after becoming disoriented by a sandbar just offshore. A Department of Conservation worker and several locals spent more than an hour trying to guide the whales back to sea, but each attempt failed. The whales kept returning to the beach.

Then something unexpected happened.

A bottlenose dolphin known locally as Moko appeared near the struggling whales. Witnesses reported that the dolphin approached the pair and began swimming alongside them. Soon after, the whales followed.

Moko escorted them about 200 metres along the shoreline to the end of the sandbar. There, the dolphin turned sharply through a narrow channel and guided the mother and calf back into deeper water and out to sea.

Human rescuers had tried for more than an hour without success. The dolphin managed it in minutes.

After that moment, the whales were not seen again in the area, suggesting they safely returned to the open ocean.

We know it's been a week, but WOW we cannot stop thinking about Austin Appelbee's courageous, miraculous 4K swim in open-ocean to save his family. As an organization who lives and breathes marine rescue, we were both in disbelief and thrilled to hear his story.

If you haven't yet, follow the link below to hear him speak about his experience. Tremendous.

And big props to the Naturaliste Marine Rescue volunteers who raced out to save the three members of Austin's family.

A WA mother says asking her teenage son to swim 4 kilometres through rough seas to get help after their family was swept out to sea, was "one of the hardest decisions" she has ever made.
