Our Baja Sur location has finished doing its first official job on a Island Packet 445. Raymarine Axiom 12 at the Helm and Nav stations with a 9-inch over companionway opening. A Stand Alone AIS System with a drop into new backbone, the Nav. station has the sounder board included and integrated into a B60 tilted element, which was mounted shooting through the hull for now until the next haul out. I installed a Hub below which the Quantum Radar that was installed mid mast plugs intro alongside the three MFDs. There is an ITC-5 mounted up behind the overhead behind the Axiom 9. The ITC 5 takes the wind ‘ducer as well as speed through water and the depth/temp analog signals and converts them to N2K, and drops into the backbone, viewable on all three MFDs. Lastly, the client wanted to keep his existing ST6001 Pilot, so I was able to integrate it into the system with their Seatalk 1 to N2K adapter, which also now resides on the backbone.

The toughest part of the job was running cables from below up to the overhead. The manufacturer of the Island Packet 445 was quite generous with installed supports and fiberglass goo to sandwich the headliner after the wire pull so it was trying. One of the supports was half covering a wire run tube/hole. The other difficult pull was the mast wires as the mast was furling style, so the room was limited, not to mention the previous mast workers twisted all the cables, so we had to pull them out and re-install the ones we assumed were the problems... all good! All wires were secured in the PVC mast tube... the system sparked up with minor tweaking, and everything worked great. As with all installs for clients I did a tutorial on all the functions as well as how to customize the look of the system to suit their needs. Nice boat and great people for clients !
