At MKA, we believe a strong culture comes from teamwork, connection, and the moments we share—on project teams, in the office, and sometimes even on the soccer field. Whether you're passionate about engineering, design, or problem-solving, you’ll find a team that values curiosity, supports growth, and genuinely enjoys working together.

This year we made MKA United soccer team cards—our company’s own soccer team—to celebrate the people who bring that culture to life.

We’re excited to share that the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library has received the 2026 SEAOI Structural Engineers Association of Illinois Excellence in Structural Engineering Award for Juror’s Favorite/Most Innovative Structure. This project challenged us to think differently about how a building can belong to its landscape, and we’re honored to see that work recognized. Congratulations to our incredible project partners and everyone who helped bring this vision to life!

With coming to Seattle and the Bay Area, we’re celebrating the completion of some big stadium upgrades.

At Lumen Field (Seattle Stadium), our structural team reconfigured the lower bowl to meet FIFA’s strict pitch‑size and clearance requirements—a behind‑the‑scenes effort that makes world‑class soccer possible. We also engineered multiple videoboard upgrades, giving fans the immersive experience they expect.

Our civil team transformed the stadium’s north side with key utility upgrades, a new event logistics & staging facility, ADA pathways, upgraded lighting and parking, adding security infrastructure, and delivering a new Seattle City Light power service.

At Levi’s Stadium (San Francisco Bay Area Stadium), we supported comparable lower bowl and videoboard improvements, along with interior upgrades that prepare the venue for global‑scale events.

Two cities. Two MKA stadiums. One global moment—and we’re proud to have helped build the stage.

With our 2026 intern class arriving at MKA, we took the opportunity to reconnect with members of our 2025 intern cohort—several of whom we’re grateful to welcome back as full-time employees. Sofia Ccorimanya and Jesse Ekanya shared their reflections on what it was like to be an MKA intern and how the experience prepared them for day-to-day life at MKA.

The South Battery Park City Resiliency Project is transforming Lower Manhattan’s waterfront into a stronger, smarter, and more resilient coastline. Spanning 17,000 ft²/7.3 acres, this civil engineering effort weaves a fully integrated flood‑barrier system—complete with flood walls and deployable flood gates—directly into the iconic Wagner Park to protect the community from tidal flooding, storm surge, and rising sea levels.

MKA served as the design mediator, coordinating the substantial flood engineering elements that protect the space from a 100-year event with the architectural pavilion and landscape features of the exceptional public realm. The civil design employed a landscape-based stormwater management approach, treating “wet side” runoff before returning it to the Hudson River, alongside a “dry side” water collection, treatment, and reuse system that reduces the project’s potable water consumption for irrigation by 50% and flush water by 62%. Achieving Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines (WEDG) certification for its resilience and public access, the project met and exceeded the rigorous technical standards developed by the Waterfront Alliance.
