Located in the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Elk Sage Ranch is a private mountain estate designed as a collection of four complementary buildings: a main house, guest cabin, caretaker’s cabin, and horse barn. Together, they create a functional and welcoming retreat that embraces its surroundings while offering flexibility for everyday living and entertaining.

From the expansive main residence with its open interiors and outdoor living spaces, to the guest and caretaker cabins thoughtfully positioned across the site, every structure was designed to feel connected yet distinct. The horse barn rounds out the property with integrated living space and equestrian amenities, all framed by sweeping mountain views.

Elk Sage Ranch is a great example of how architecture, setting, and collaboration come together to create something truly special. We’re excited to share this project and the team effort behind it.

Alaska’s first CLT building is taking shape above the Arctic Circle in Kotzebue. Working around barge access, extreme cold, and limited seasonal construction windows, the project team is taking coordination to a new level to deliver the Maniilaq Employee and Patient Housing Facilities – capitalizing on this design-delivery method to reduce construction time and risk in an Arctic environment.

At approximately 104,000-sf and three stories, the development includes two adjacent buildings: 48 staff units and 56 patient units, supporting workforce stability and patient access next to the Maniilaq health campus.

Both buildings are supported on thermopile foundations designed for permafrost conditions, with early coordination enabling panelization, connection detailing, and er****on planning for rapid assembly once materials reached site.

Here, we see the employee building well underway! Thanks to KPB Architects for the fantastic progress shots.

“There’s a quote we all know: Actions speak louder than words; and in the case of our six core value words, they’re just words – until each of us puts them into action and shows what those values truly mean to DCI.” - Jeff D. Brink, CEO

The DCI Values Leadership Awards (VLAs), a peer-nominated program that launched this year, allows us to recognize the individuals who demonstrate the firm’s six core values in real time. With 160 nominations firmwide, we couldn’t be prouder!

Please join us in congratulating our 2026 VLA Recipients!

Happy Earth Day.

DCI Engineers has released our 2026 Embodied Carbon Action Plan (ECAP), outlining how we’re continuing to advance our commitment to the SE 2050 Challenge and net zero embodied carbon in structural design by 2050.

The ECAP serves as a working roadmap—tracking progress, aligning efforts across the firm, and identifying where we’re focusing next. This year’s plan also includes several key updates and milestones that reflect how our approach to embodied carbon continues to evolve.

Explore the 2026 ECAP and read more about what’s new in this year’s plan in our latest news post: https://www.dci-engineers.com/news/happy-earth-day-2026

DCI’s 636 West 158th Street is nearing completion in Washington Heights, Manhattan, and was recently featured by New York YIMBY, a leading outlet covering real estate development, architecture, and construction in New York City.

This project showcases the kind of structural problem-solving that protects neighboring buildings while delivering a distinctive exterior. Key structural highlights include:

A steeply sloped site (up to 20 feet of grade change) driving stepped pile cap elevations to align with adjacent foundations and avoid undermining nearby structures.

Cantilevered columns and a perimeter ring beam supporting an architectural decorative crown at the second-floor terrace and roofline.

A very deep cellar (19 feet) that transitioned from a planned garage to a lightweight “box” community facility structure built within the completed main shell.

Congratulations to the project team on reaching this milestone. Read the feature HERE: https://newyorkyimby.com/2026/04/636-west-158th-street-nears-completion-in-washington-heights-manhattan.html

Work is nearing completion on 636 West 158th Street, a 17-story, 120-unit project from Morris Adjmi Architects in Washington Heights, Manhattan.

DCI’s Seattle Headquarters has been recognized with a 2026 Vision Award for Tenant Improvement from the Seattle and Bellevue 2030 Districts.

Located on the 17th floor of 1700 Seventh Avenue in downtown Seattle, the office reflects DCI’s commitment to sustainable design – reducing embodied carbon, energy use, and water consumption while improving occupant comfort and supporting access to diverse transit options. Highlights include a 17% embodied carbon savings compared to the initial design concept, strategic finish reductions to showcase existing structure, and a location that supports low-carbon commuting.

And now you can check it out for yourself! DCI’s Seattle Headquarters will be featured as one of the site tour stops for Energy Week: an immersive series on energy efficiency, decarbonization, and renewable energy solutions for the built environment, happening May 11-15. The week also includes educational webinars, interactive panels, and networking designed to help property teams and industry partners advance progress toward the 2030 targets.

Thank you Seattle 2030 District and Bellevue 2030 District for the recognition, and HOK for partnering with us on bringing our Seattle headquarters new life!
