ComFish Alaska, hosted by the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce, is Alaska’s premiere commercial fisheries trade show representing fishermen, government agencies, non-profits, and gear vendors involved in every aspect of commercial fishing.

We are exhibiting at here in Seattle. It’s always a pleasure talking about industrial cooling solutions with the new generation. These students, from Bellingham Technical College, learned how flake ice makers operate and how flake ice is the most efficient means of preserving perishable goods.

We will be showcasing our Modular Rake Storage & Delivery Systems and look forward to sharing how these systems can make your operations more efficient and food safe.

Monitoring and regulating ice contamination are an important focus of the Packaged Ice industry. International Packaged Ice Association members self-regulate under PIQCS (Packed Ice Quality Control Standards) which is fully compliant with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act. Understanding the importance of clean ice for both our packaged ice customers and consumers, North Star Modular Ice Rake Storage Systems are specifically designed for food grade applications using stainless steel components and automated delivery systems to help prevent contamination during the production process.

Packaged Ice facilities require storage space and reliable equipment to handle hundreds of tons of ice produced daily.

North Star Modular Ice Rake Storage Systems are designed with an ice rake custom fit for desired storage bin capacities. The rake is used to level tube ice that falls into the insulated ice storage bin; it’s like a caterpillar thread on an earth mover with a front mounted blade.

North Star is a proud member of the International Packaged Ice Association and will be exhibiting at the annual IPIA 2018 Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, November 5-8.

Packaged ice, also known as “tube" or “bagged ice”, is commonly found stocked in large coolers at supermarkets and outside convenience stores. It is estimated, by the IPIA, that the average packaged ice company in North America produces 100 tons of ice per day and in warmer climates, production can be as high as 600 tons of ice per day. North Star Modular Rake Storage and Delivery Systems are relied upon by packaged ice industry leaders in their facilities for its automated and efficient design.
