Diversified Technical Systems - DTS

Diversified Technical Systems - DTS DTS is the leader in data recorders & sensors for occupant safety and product testing in automotive, biomechanics, aerospace and military.

From their very first projects, DTS founders Steve Pruitt, Mike Beckage and Tim Kippen aimed to be different. Instead of making customers conform their needs to a static product, DTS created custom data acquisition systems that were built from scratch and uniquely structured to reflect the client's specifications. In 1995, DTS created its first modular data acquisition system called TDAS. It was a

n innovative, fully-featured and simple way to collect test data for occupant and vehicle safety applications. In 1999, DTS reached a key milestone when it was awarded the contract to develop the first in-dummy DAS system for WorldSID, which brought DTS worldwide recognition in the crash community. Throughout these developments, the DTS team never lost sight of a simple but critical ingredient to success-listening. After a visit where the General Motors team identified additional features that would make TDAS ideal for their purposes, the DTS team returned the next month with a new system that included all of those features. The resulting sale was-and to this day, still is-the largest single order in crash-test market history. Today, DTS continues to develop innovative new products and is globally recognized in many industries as a leading provider of advanced measurement solutions.

This Memorial Day, we pause to reflect and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. At DTS, we are proud to support those who serve by advancing soldier safety through innovation and science. Our work with the U.S. Army to develop WIAMan, the world’s most biofidelic blast test manikin, reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting soldiers and helping reduce injury in the most demanding environments.

As the Artemis II mission prepares for splashdown off the coast of San Diego, Mike Beckage shared DTS’s long history with NASA leading up to this historic moment. DTS began working with NASA more than two decades ago to help support this milestone. Artemis II is especially significant because no humans had traveled beyond Earth orbit since 1972.

Here’s a quick look at the DTS-NASA timeline:

2002: NASA begins using TDAS PRO for Orion capsule testing
2016: Interest begins in TSR PRO for crew seat acceleration testing
2019: SLICE NANO supports parachute asymmetry testing
2020: Delivery of 10 crew seat accelerometers (TSR PRO units)
2022: TSR PRO data loggers fly onboard Artemis I to the Moon and back
2026: Artemis II launches on April 1 with a TSR PRO mounted to each of the four astronaut seats

DTS is proud to support testing that helps advance human spaceflight and astronaut safety. Here's to a safe splashdown!!

🎉 Congratulations to NASA and the Artemis II crew!
It’s been an honor to work with NASA for decades, supporting a wide range of mission-critical testing, including Artemis II. There is a DTS TSR PRO data logger mounted to each astronaut’s seat back to measure the acceleration and vibration forces the crew will experience during launch and re-entry. When the capsule hatch closed, it triggered the 4 TSR PROs to begin recording, and they will keep recording until touchdown.

During ascent, the crew is expected to experience 2.5 times the force of gravity, and during the planned re-entry profile, 4 times the force of gravity. With built-in sensors, onboard memory, and self-powered operation, the TSR PRO records all the forces the astronauts experience.

DTS is proud to support space exploration and help improve astronaut safety from launch to touchdown. Learn more about how NASA used the TSR PRO data loggers to prepare for this mission: https://hubs.li/Q049P8lZ0

Supporting safer outcomes for everyone on the road.

Diversified Technical Systems - DTS recently completed an integration project with Hybrid III 3-year-old and 6-year-old test dummies. Accurate data and injury criteria are key to improving safety systems that protect everyone—not just the average adult. DTS is proud that our SLICE6 in-dummy DAS solutions are designed to integrate seamlessly with all makes and models of ATDs (Anthropomorphic Test Devices)—helping capture high-quality data where it matters most.
