The new GC Smith Road Bridge in Elmhurst was officially opened during a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Lackawanna County Commissioners on September 3. As Lackawanna County Engineer, GPI is proud to have played a role in delivering this important infrastructure improvement for the community. GPI's Frank Summa had the honor of providing opening remarks during the ceremony, and he joined Robert Bochicchio in representing GPI’s team as the bridge's completion was celebrated.

The GC Smith Road Bridge Replacement Project involved the replacement of the existing structurally deficient bridge carrying T-718 (GC Smith Street) over Roaring Brook in Elmhurst Township. The project replaced the existing 76-foot steel plate thru-girder bridge with a new two-span prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge, improved roadway approaches, drainage, guide rail, and provided a wider roadway to better serve the traveling public.

GPI provided complete engineering services for the project, including planning, survey, hydraulic analysis, right-of-way, roadway design, bridge design, utility coordination, and preparation of final construction plans, specifications, and estimates.

Lackawanna County officials reopened the newly constructed CG Smith Road Bridge over Roaring Brook in Elmhurst on Thursday, marking the completion of a roughly

Last week, volunteers from GPI's Allentown office joined the Cedar Creek Parkway Stream Team through Wildlands Conservancy to help maintain and restore a local riparian buffer. Team members cleared invasive species, replanted trees, and repaired supports for young native trees along the stream corridor.

These efforts help improve water quality, reduce erosion and flooding concerns, support wildlife habitat, and promote the long-term health of the local ecosystem.

Thank you to everyone who participated and represented GPI in the community!

Our Scranton office recently got together for an Employee Night Out at the RailRiders game.

It was a great chance to step away from day-to-day work, catch up, and enjoy an evening at the ballpark. Between the food, conversation, and plenty of laughs, it was a fun night spent with the people who make our office such a great place to be.
