🚂🇺🇸 A Piece of History Rolled Out of Our Building!
Did you know that Union Pacific's legendary Big Boy No. 4014—the largest operating steam locomotive in the world—was built right here in Schenectady, NY in 1941?
Weighing an incredible 1.1 million pounds and stretching over 130 feet long, Big Boy 4014 is one of only eight remaining locomotives of its kind. As it travels the country during its historic tour celebrating America's 250th Anniversary, we're proud to share a unique connection to this engineering marvel.
Even more exciting? Big Boy 4014 was built in the very building that STS Steel now owns and operates today! 🏭
From building one of the most powerful locomotives ever created to fabricating steel that supports America's infrastructure today, this facility has been part of American manufacturing history for more than 80 years.
Now that's some serious horsepower! 💪🚂
