🏗️🔩 STEELDAY 2026 AT STS STEEL! 🔩🏗️

🎉 500+ students. 12 schools. One incredible day!

On Friday, October 16th, STS Steel proudly opened our doors for SteelDay, welcoming more than 500 students, teachers, and chaperones to experience the steel industry up close!

From the shop floor to the paint shop, students got a behind-the-scenes look at how we manufacture and fabricate the bridges, buildings, and hydraulic structures that help keep our country moving. 🇺🇸

🔧 WHAT DID THEY GET TO SEE AND LEARN?

Students explored our steel and paint shops and learned about:
🔹 Welding and inspection
🔹 Industrial painting and finishing
🔹 Operating machines and equipment
🔹 Engineering and career opportunities
🔹 The history of STS Steel
🔹 How steel structures go from raw materials to finished products!

It was an exciting opportunity to connect what students learn in the classroom with real-world skills, careers, and projects happening right here in our shop!

American Institute of Steel Construction SteelDay is about inspiring curiosity, introducing students to rewarding career paths, and showing the next generation the incredible things they can accomplish in manufacturing, fabrication, and the skilled trades.

Seeing our shop filled with more than 500 students eager to learn, ask questions, and explore new possibilities made this a day to remember!

❤️ Thank you to all the schools, vendors, food vendors, and STS Steel team members who helped make SteelDay 2026 such a success. We loved showing off what we do and giving students a glimpse into the opportunities waiting for them in our industry!

Who knows? Some of the students who walked through our shop on Friday could be the engineers, welders, inspectors, and fabricators building tomorrow's biggest projects! 🏗️✨

Proud to have played a part in this one.

Every steel girder on the Park Avenue Viaduct Replacement project was fabricated right here at STS Steel in Schenectady, NY.

The YouTube channel called The B1M just released a documentary going behind the scenes on the final outage weekend. It's worth a watch to see the scale and precision this project demanded.

This Sunday, STS Steel was proud to participate in the Fonda Fair’s 13th Annual Convoy for a Cause! 🚛❤️

Convoy for a Cause is an incredible event that brings together hundreds of vehicles and community members, with all proceeds going toward supporting local causes.

This year, an amazing 325 vehicles participated and raised $20,000 for Lily Smith and Bentley Odell!

This event is truly something special to witness and be a part of. STS Steel was honored to participate this year, and we can’t wait to continue joining in and supporting this great cause for years to come!

On Monday, three STS employees had the opportunity to participate in the Boys & Girls Club of Schenectady Golf Tournament at Albany Country Club to help support an amazing local program!

The Boys & Girls Club provides local youth with a safe place to learn, grow, and build meaningful relationships with caring mentors. Through innovative programs and opportunities, they help young people excel in school, lead healthy and productive lives, and reach their full potential as responsible members of our community.

The Boys & Girls Club serves thousands of youth in Schenectady, and families are only asked to contribute $10 for an entire year. The rest of the funding comes from generous partners and community donations.

For the past four years, STS has been proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Club and support their mission of making a difference in the lives of so many young people in our community.

We’re proud to be part of such a great event and an even greater cause! ⛳️

STS Steel is incredibly honored to be part of the Unionport Bridge, which has been recognized with the American Institute of Steel Construction 2026 Prize Bridge Award for Movable Span!

This achievement reflects the countless hours, precision, and dedication our team invested in fabricating the bridge's complex structural steel components. Every employee who contributed to this project played an important role, and we couldn't be more proud of their hard work, craftsmanship, and commitment to excellence.

This award is also a testament to the power of teamwork. We'd like to congratulate and thank all of the companies, engineers, contractors, and partners who helped make the Unionport Bridge a reality. When talented people come together with a shared vision, remarkable things can happen.

☀️What a great day ☀️

On June 26th, we had an amazing time at our STS Steel Family Day at Schenectady Central Park! Thank you to the 116 employees and family members who came out to spend the day with us.

Congratulations to our tournament winners:

We also enjoyed a friendly kickball game, raffled off Tri-City ValleyCats tickets, handed out awesome STS shirts (thanks, Justin Millington!), and we enjoyed great food from Wagon Train BBQ and delicious desserts from Caked Up With Love.

🚂🇺🇸 A Piece of History Rolled Out of Our Building!

Weighing an incredible 1.1 million pounds and stretching over 130 feet long, Big Boy 4014 is one of only eight remaining locomotives of its kind. As it travels the country during its historic tour celebrating America's 250th Anniversary, we're proud to share a unique connection to this engineering marvel.

Even more exciting? Big Boy 4014 was built in the very building that STS Steel now owns and operates today! 🏭
