We are excited to announce the inaugural trip of Art Bound 2014! Designed for students looking towards their artistic future, our team has designed a trip that will take enthusiastic high school artists down the East Coast, to premiere Art colleges, introduce you to college life and inspire students through hands on workshops that will not only help prepare our Art Bound students for the next chap
ter in their life, but leave lasting memories! Art Bound is a non-profit organization focused on giving high school Art Students the chance to tour Art College Campus's on the East Coast before they graduate. By giving students this opportunity, the students will experience each campus's college atmosphere first hand along side other enthusiastic high school students. We will showcase each school, and work side by side with professors and Art Bound Chaperones to participate in a workshop on a college level in real colleges. We believe this approach will help students decide what college path is correct for them, and giving the student the inspiration to not only follow their college goals and dreams, but also a jump start on their college career before they walk across the stage at their high school graduation. The Art Bound tour is designed for 50- 100 qualified high school applicants interested in pursuing a career in the Arts. Art Bound is putting together a 21-day bus journey, traveling down the East Coast visiting campuses of Art Schools so that each student can see first hand what each school has to offer and get Art Bound students excited about their college career and where they want their education to begin. Students will be able to tour the campus, learn about each individual opportunity a school has to offer, doing so while studying with Art Bound Peers and doing hands on workshops on campus's at a college level. At this time, we have 12 schools on our itinerary. Our tour will be starting in Maine, and ending in Orlando. Art Bound will have 12 chaperones with careers in the Arts joining us as guides, and as teachers. Art Bound's main Artistic focus on our inaugural trip is Photography and Graphic Design. Art Bound will be giving each student a Mac Book Air to keep as their own, and a rented DSLR camera, and lenses, to take with them to learn how to use, along with programs like Photoshop and Illustrator to work with for their workshops. These pieces of equipment will also help capture the memories Art Bound students will make along the way. We are not limiting our students to just aspiring Photographers or Graphic Designers, we will be accepting applications from students interested in pursing any career in the Arts, i.e. fashion, architecture, film, etc. (We believe that a foundation of Photography and Graphic Design can tie into all facets of art; per say, if a designer wants to photograph their work and use graphic technology to enhance their vision). For each school we are visiting, Art Bound has asked for tours of the campuses, if there is workshop space available for rent, if staff may be willing to teach our Art Bound Students, if there are dormitories available for our students to stay in, as well as cafeterias the students may use. What better way to help decide where you'd like to study than by experiencing college life first hand? While we know that not every school is able to offer these things, even just touring a campus and learning about what each individual school has to offer is a huge advantage to any Art Student! Before we head out on our trip, a detailed itinerary will be posted letting the Art Bound students and parents know what colleges we will be touring, and what we will be doing on our visit, and during our free days. Art Bound's goal is to showcase each Art School to the students, and give them a jump start on their future college careers. It is our hope that when each Art Bound student begins to apply to colleges, they will have a unique understanding of each school's campus life, courses, and the cities, so they will know what suits their educational goals, which college will help bring out the very best of each students artistic attributes, and create their futures in the art world.
