Project Spotlight: Madison Street Improvements | Dublin, Georgia
A piece of Dublin’s past helped shape the future of one of its downtown corridors.
Thomas & Hutton (T&H) partnered with the City of Dublin to design improvements along Madison Street between Church Street and Jefferson Street, creating a safer, more accessible connection through the heart of downtown. Pride Contracting Inc. and Total Earth Services , LLC. brought the design to life through construction, with the team coordinating roadway and sidewalk rehabilitation, pedestrian enhancements, landscaping, hardscape, drainage, streetscape improvements, and the transition of existing overhead utilities underground.
During construction, crews uncovered an original brick roadway believed to date to approximately 1906. While the bricks could not remain in place, the discovery inspired the City and project team to incorporate modern clay pavers throughout the corridor, carrying a piece of Madison Street’s history into its renewed design.
The completed improvements strengthen connections between the farmers market, Jefferson Street, local businesses, and other downtown destinations while creating a more walkable and inviting environment for the Dublin community
