Affton Fabricating & Welding Co., Inc. is proud to announce the successful completion of our 2025 independent audit of our Quality Management System by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) for Certified Building Fabricator certification.

This year’s audit concluded with zero corrective actions, reflecting our team’s continued commitment to excellence and quality in every project we deliver.

Pending AISC panel review, we anticipate our certification renewal for 2025–2026.

We view these independent audits not as a challenge, but as an opportunity to validate our processes and uphold the nearly 70-year tradition of quality and reliability that our customers have come to expect from AFWC.

Shining a spotlight on our own Hannah Tucker for !

This outstanding woman will be graduating from Truman State University this May with not one, but TWO degrees, a BS in Accounting and a BS in Business Administration.

She has worked remotely for two years while pursuing her degree, and her decision to enter the dynamic world of construction is both inspiring and commendable.

Choosing a path less traveled is the key to in any industry.

Hannah's commitment to excellence and passion for construction is a testament to the immense talent women bring to this field.

We admire Hannah's determination, hard work, and courage to challenge stereotypes.

As she steps into the construction industry full-time, we have no doubt that she will continue to make a significant impact and inspire other women to do the same.

American Institute of Steel Construction

Today we had an on-site American Institute of Steel Construction audit for our annual AISC Building Fabricator certification.

The audit went well, and the auditor found ZERO Corrective Actions and ZERO Nonconformances to our Quality Management System. Better yet, the auditor was also able to identify a few areas of strengths that sets AFWC us apart from other fabricators and even offered some suggestions for future improvements. Most importantly though, he provided another set of independent eyes on our processes. We are a strong team!

*Gas Shielded Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) Experience
*AWS D1.1 Certified (or ability to pass a 3G weld test on 1" plate to become certified)
*Ability to properly read a tape measure and layout tools
*Ability to operate power tools (including grinders)
*Strong ability to listen and follow directions
*Reliable transportation
*Ability to work overtime as needed
*Ability to lift 50lbs
*Ability to stand for long periods

Today we had an on-site American Institute of Steel Construction audit for our AISC Building Fabricator certification.

The audit went well, and while the auditor found a few areas for improvement that we can improve on; which is one of the benefits of going through the audit process by an outside party. However, the BEST NEWS is that for the 2nd year in a row we had ZERO Corrective Actions issued. We are a strong team!

Today, we learned that Affton Fabricating & Welding Co., Inc.. is nominated for its 13th ASA Subcontractor of the Year Award as voted on by St. Louis area general contractors and awarded by American Subcontractors Association-Midwest Council ( ASA-Midwest Council ).

The voting will occur over the next three months, and the winner will be announced at the 28th Annual American Subcontractors Association; Midwest Council Awards Gala on Friday, June 25, 2021 in St. Louis, Mo.

Thank you to those that took time to nominate us this year and in years past, and to those that will vote for us. We are truly honored by this recognition.

AFWC is accepting applications and resumes for experienced Structural Fitters. Candidates must have 3+ years work experience in a structural steel fabrication shop as a Fitter and have good experience at past/present employer. Do you have what it takes to join our team? We work hard, but our average employee tenure is over 10 years.

Yesterday, we welcomed an AISC auditor in to our fabrication facility to audit our Quality Management System. In simplest form, its a check to make sure that we say what we do, and do what we say.

The audit went great. We received quality feedback but were also able to pinpoint where improvement is needed. In the end, it was a great experience and we have been recommended for another year of certification.

Affton Fabricating & Welding Co., Inc. just completed its 2018 independent audit of our Quality Management System by the American Institute of Steel Construction for the Certified Building Fabricator certification.

We are pleased to announce that this year's audit of AFWC's Quality Management System did not result in a single Corrective Action to be issued by the independent auditor. We expect, upon panel review by AISC, that our certification will be renewed for 2019.

While some companies may balk at the idea of an independent auditor coming in and checking on their processes, we welcome the opportunity as a check on our systems, and to ensure we stay true to the 60+ year tradition our customers have come to expect.

On Saturday, April 14, 2018, AFWC received the 2018 ASA Midwest Council Safety Award for having the lowest injury rate in our division. Ron Pfeil, (Vice President), accepted the award on behalf over everyone on our team.

In addition, AFWC was also nominated for the prestigious Subcontractor of the Year award, marking our 12th nomination. While we did not win this year, we take great pride in being nominated by the St. Louis general contracting community.

In addition our very own Tom Henson (Vice President), presented the General Contractor Field Employee of the Year Award to Dennis Bentlage with Contegra Construction.

And last, but certainly not least, Bob Pfeil (retired) received the 2018 ASA Midwest Council Legacy Award for all he has done for ASA Midwest Council over the years. He was involved with reinvigorating ASA Midwest Council, served as various committee chairs, and is a Past President of the organization.

It was a great night with over 400 people in attendance, and AFWC was certainly proud of the recognition we received.
