Jon Swift paid a visit to Mrs. Annicelli, principal at Sarasota County Schools' Booker Elementary School. Through the Swift Family Foundation, we contributed $5,000 to the school to support reading efforts for kids kindergarten through third grade.

Why is this so important?
Studies have found that third graders who lack proficiency in reading are FOUR TIMES more likely to become high school dropouts.

We are proud to support Emma Booker Elementary and the changes they are making in the lives of kids right here in our community.

Employee Spotlight: Jason D.

Meet Jason D., one of our Superintendents at Jon F. Swift Construction.

Before Swift, Jason spent his career erecting metal buildings, so he came in already knowing how to read a structure and keep a crew moving. You can see it in how he runs a site — steady, organized and always a step ahead.

Outside of work Jason is a big part of our local community. He's heavily involved with the Sarasota County Fair and local agriculture, putting in real time and effort year after year.

That same mindset shows up on the job too. Jason's the kind of guy who does more than what's asked of him, and it doesn't go unnoticed. We're lucky to have him.

Our team served as Construction Manager at Risk on this streetscape project for the City of Sarasota — installing a roundabout at an existing signalized intersection and reworking all four corners in the heart of downtown.

The scope: 6", 8" and 12" ductile iron water main, new curb and sidewalks, concrete pavement and brick pavers in the roadway, raised planters with brick faces and coping, landscaping and irrigation, decorative lighting and the foundation for a public art sculpture.

Projects like this take more than technical skill — they take a team that can manage a high-visibility, high-traffic downtown corridor while keeping local businesses open and accessible throughout construction.

When a school district leader takes the time to write in with praise, we take notice.

Dr. LaShawn Frost, Executive Director of Student Services for Sarasota County Schools, shared this after the Booker Middle School re-roof project: "My experiences with Swift Construction have consistently been phenomenal, and this project was no exception."

Special shoutout to our own Donald, who led the project as Superintendent! Dr. Frost called out his professionalism, responsiveness and commitment to keeping things on track every step of the way.

Employee spotlight!

Meet Jonathan Swift, Superintendent at Jon F. Swift Construction. Jonathan started working for his dad, Jon, back in 1997, nearly 30 years ago, and has been building Sarasota area landmarks ever since.

Over the years, Jonathan has led the charge on some significant local projects, including the Town of Longboat Key's Fire Station 91 renovation and Bayfront Park on Longboat Key. Right now, he's hard at work on the Snook Haven Park Improvements project, bringing that same experience and dedication to every detail.

Thirty years of building up our community, and he's not slowing down! Thank you for everything you do, Jonathan.

Throwback to one of our favorite downtown projects!

The Quay redevelopment in Sarasota was a huge undertaking and our team was proud to serve as the contractor for the infrastructure phase that helped bring this bayfront property to life.

The scope included installation of underground utilities, stormwater systems and an FPL duct bank, along with new curbs, sidewalks, roadways and landscaping. As the project progressed, we tackled a major downtown drainage challenge too, rebuilding the main ditch on the property (which drains 50 acres of the City's stormwater) with a new FDOT box culvert, sediment boxes and outfall structure to help protect the bay.

The finishing touch was a scenic addition to the Multi Use Recreational Trail (MURT), extending the Bayfront MURT so the community can access the boat basin on the western side of the property.

A look back at one of our favorite projects!

About two years ago, our team completed a full renovation of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County's two floor headquarters, and we're still proud of how it turned out.

The project touched every corner of the building. Office spaces, conference rooms, work areas and restrooms were all reimagined to create a more open, collaborative environment for their staff. Behind the scenes, we installed a brand new HVAC system for better comfort and air quality and gave the building a fully replaced roof for lasting durability and efficiency. High end finishes throughout tied it all together, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to excellence.

It was meaningful to help an organization like the Community Foundation upgrade their space, because a better workplace for their team meant an even stronger ability to serve the Sarasota community.

Some projects come full circle! 🍋

Our design-build team completed the Lemon Avenue Streetscape project for the City of Sarasota in 2019 — and this is actually the second time our team has worked on this very street.

Back in 2008, we handled the first phase, upgrading the aging utility infrastructure below ground. This time around, our focus was above ground: creating a seamless space where pedestrians and vehicles share the street naturally, tying together a cohesive, one-of-a-kind stretch of downtown Sarasota.

Come downtown and take a stroll along Lemon Avenue!
