Today is the birthday of every Porsche ever made.
On June 8, 1948, Ferry Porsche received the operating permit for the 356 "No. 1" Roadster in Gmünd, Austria — and the Porsche brand was born.
Hand-built aluminum body. A borrowed and tuned VW flat-four making just 35 hp. A steel lattice tube frame. A mid-engine layout that wouldn't survive into production. It shouldn't have worked. It absolutely did.
78 years ago today, one man decided the car he wanted simply didn't exist yet — so he built it.
The No. 1 is still alive. You can see it at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, where it holds its rightful place as the car that started everything.
Every 911. Every GT3. Every Taycan. It all traces back to this little aluminum roadster on a dirt road in the Austrian Alps.

The 2008 Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 is one of the rarest 987s ever built — Carrara White with matching white 19-inch SportDesign wheels, white side air intakes, white instrument dials, grey body stripes, grey convertible roof, and a black leather interior with white painted dash and console. The 3.4L flat-six was bumped to 303 hp via a sport exhaust, and a numbered plaque on the glovebox confirms exactly how rare yours is. The 987 Boxster RS60 Spyder was Porsche's tribute to the 718 RS60 that won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1960 — GT Silver Metallic, red convertible top, Carrera Red leather, red tail lights, black windscreen surround, and a sport exhaust that pushed the 3.4L flat-six to 303 hp. Limited to just 700 units, the 2007–2008 Cayman S Sport with blacked-out 19" Sport Classic II wheels, a Sport Chrono-equipped cockpit, and — the detail that made enthusiasts do a double take — GT3-sourced Alcantara steering wheel and shift k**b pulled straight from the 997 GT3. The market largely ignored it at launch. Now? These are climbing fast. If you own one, we've got the OEM and Tequipment-era parts to keep it dialed in.

The 911 R wasn't the fastest 911 Porsche made in 2016 — but it might be the most important one. It was a message: we hear you. Strip it down. Let the engine breathe. Give the driver a stick shift and get out of the way.

The OG Cayenne GTS. Still hits different. 🔴
Before GTS meant turbocharged, it meant this — a naturally aspirated 4.8L V8 screaming to 6,500 rpm, pumping out 405 hp and paired with one of the best exhaust notes Porsche ever put on an SUV. The 957 Cayenne GTS wasn't just filling the gap between the S and the Turbo — it was redefining what a performance SUV could feel like.
It rode 24mm lower than the Cayenne S on sport suspension, rolled on 21" wheels, and wore wider fenders that meant business. Black window surrounds, black B- and C-pillar trim, quad chrome exhaust tips out back — the visual language was unmistakable.
And then there was the color. GTS Red was introduced specifically for this generation of Cayenne GTS — a deep, dark red that didn't last long before it moved to PTS and Carmine Red took over as the go-to GTS color across the lineup. Boxster GTS. Carrera GTS. Cayman GTS. Macan GTS. Carmine Red carries that DNA forward to this day. It started here!
