🌍 ESCMID Recap

We’re back from ESCMID and reflecting on a valuable week of connection and collaboration with the global microbiology community.

Our team met with Sumi Thaker, CEO of Gradientech (Manufacturer of the rapid QuickMIC® for AST), and Christer Malmberg, CSO.

A highlight of the event was Anna Klavins, Director of Technical Services and R&D, presenting our FDA Breakthrough Device Designation work, featuring the rapid lateral flow test, NG-TEST® 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢 𝘢𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴 and NG-TEST® 𝘈𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘰-5®.

🧪 Celebrating Clinical Trials Day

Today we recognize the impact of clinical research and the history behind modern clinical trials.

In 1747, Scottish physician James Lind conducted what is widely recognized as the first modern clinical trial while studying treatments for scurvy among sailors at sea. By comparing different remedies, he discovered that citrus fruits were highly effective in improving symptoms of the disease and hence the nickname of “Limeys” for British sailors. 🍋

Lind’s work helped lay the foundation for evidence-based medicine and the clinical trial process still used today.
