From the First Tunable Laser to U.S. Market Innovation: The MOVU Legacy At MOVU, we’re proud to be part of a decades-long evolution in ophthalmic imaging and surgical planning.

A few milestones that shaped our journey:
2005 – First commercial swept source laser for OCT (HSL-2000) First SS-OCT for anterior chamber demonstrated by Dr. Yasuno
2006 – Patent filed for SS-OCT using VCSEL
2007 – First SS-OCT angiography demonstrated (HSL-1000)
2008 – OEM for first commercial ophthalmic SS-OCT
2008 – First whole-eye imaging with SS-OCT (C. Chong et al., Applied Optics)

2013 – MOVU brand and Santec Photonics Lab launched in Santa Clara
2015 – FDA 510(k) clearance for ARGOS
2019 – FDA 510(k) clearance for ARGOS ver1.5 with reference imaging capability to link surgical instruments
