Hector Salcedo, PE, was featured on the panel “Voices Shaping the Future of Our Industry,” where emerging leaders from public agencies and the AEC industry shared real-world experiences, lessons learned, and ideas for how we can better support the next generation of professionals.
We were also honored to have Miranda Patton, PE, serve as moderator for the Women in Engineering Panel. The discussion highlighted each panelist’s journey in engineering: their growth, challenges, achievements, and the experiences that have shaped their careers. It was an inspiring conversation centered on leadership, resilience, and expanding opportunities within our industry.

The team provided construction management services for the APWA Monterey Bay 2026 Project of the Year award-winning San Benito County - Government Union Road Bridge Replacement Project. The $48m project replaced a seismically vulnerable bridge while maintaining traffic throughout construction, as well as improving roadway alignment, enhanced multimodal access & safety, and restoring river habitats following the removal of the old bridge. We thank Biggs Cardosa Associates, Inc. for their structural and transportation design leadership.

Congratulations to the CM team and Pajaro Dunes Geologic Hazard Abatement District for being awarded an APWA Monterey Bay 2026 Project of the Year award for the Seawall Repair Project. The $575,000 initiative rehabilitated approximately 1,900 feet of aging seawall to address coastal erosion and geologic hazards that threatened the oceanside community. Thank you to Kies & Son Construction, Inc. for skilled ex*****on and high-quality coastal construction services on this project.

CM provided oversight support for the APWA Monterey Bay Chapter 2026 Project of the Year award-winning City Of Gonzales Industrial Wastewater Conveyance Project. The $7M project replaced the City’s reliance on a shared municipal wastewater system by constructing new conveyance infrastructure to separate industrial and agricultural wastewater flows. This initiative enables long-term residential and industrial growth while improving water quality, reducing energy use, and preserving wastewater treatment capacity for Gonzales communities. We thank Dudek & Associates, Inc. for their engineering and design services, Polaris Land Surveying Inc for inspection and surveying responsibilities, as well as Pacific Crest Engineering, Inc. for geotechnical and materials testing services on this project.

Congratulations to the CM team and the County of Santa Cruz for receiving an APWA Monterey Bay 2026 Project of the Year award for the Soquel Drive Buffered Bike Lane and Congestion Mitigation Project. The $21.9m project dramatically improved safety and mobility along a 5-mile Santa Cruz corridor through multimodal roadway, bikeway, signal, and ADA-compliant pedestrian upgrades. Thank you to Monterey Peninsula Engineering, Kimley-Horn, & Mark Thomas for their leadership and contributions to this project.

What a night! Four projects received 2026 Project of the Year awards at yesterday’s APWA Monterey Bay Awards Ceremony! Across the four awarded projects, MNS supported local and regional agencies by delivering construction management, inspection, environmental compliance, and cost & schedule control that resulted in safer infrastructure, improved resilience, and long-term community benefit. Thank you to APWA for hosting an incredible event!

BKF Engineers and MNS attended BDA/IE’s Christmas in January lunch, an event focused on networking and strengthening working relationships across the AEC industry. Jackie Martinez, Bruce Kirby, and David Jungmann represented BKF alongside MNS’s Gloria Aguilar, connecting with peers and continuing conversations with industry partners. Events like this create valuable space for collaboration and relationship-building.
