Highlights of the Summit, which takes place Friday, June 26, on the Rhode Island School of Design campus in Providence, include:

• Keynote address: Galina Tachieva, “Fix the Place, Keep the People.”
Galina is the author of the award-winning Sprawl Repair Manual and leads the national Sprawl Retrofit Initiative for The Congress for the New Urbanism.
• Rhode Island Gubernatorial Candidates Forum on Smart Growth.
Three major candidates — Helena Foulkes (D), Aaron Guckian (R), and Ken Block (I) - will share their thoughts on the future of Rhode Island’s communities and answer questions moderated by award-winning investigative journalist Jim Hummel.
• 15 interactive sessions.
Choose from workshops, walking tours, and participatory panel discussions divided between morning and afternoon sessions.

Sunshine, smiles, and a little river adventure! ☀️🚣‍♀️🐟
HW staff had an amazing time at the annual Herring Run and Paddle in Somerville, celebrating the spring migration of herring on the Mystic River! This year’s event featured a 5K run/walk 🏃‍♀️ paddle events 🚣 and an 11-mile bike ride 🚴 — plenty of fun for everyone!

Huge thanks to .river.watershed for hosting such a fin-tastic event! 💙 We’re already counting down to next year!

We had a crantastic😉time at Heritage Museums & Gardens last evening and enjoyed visiting the “bog” in the car museum (of course the cars!) the revolution exhibit at the carousel, and the cranberry exhibit which has been re-imagined👍 since last season. We are particularly interested in the rewilding of bogs⭐️Ecological restoration is one of our passions. Rain or shine the gardens do not disappoint. Check out this favorite site (and client) when in Sandwich. 😁🪻🌼🌻

While Guam seems to have been spared the worst of Typhoon Sinlaku, our colleagues in the CNMI took a catastrophic hit. The eyewall lingered over Saipan and Tinian for more than 24 hours, with reported rainfall totals exceeding 25 inches.

Our friends at Pacific Coastal Research & Planning are safe and accounted for and are actively supporting recovery efforts—clearing flooded homes, helping friends and neighbors, and putting their chainsaw skills to use. They have described significant structural damage to residences, schools, and other facilities, along with widespread forest loss and substantial shoreline erosion—particularly in LaoLao Bay.

As damage assessments and recovery efforts continue, our hearts go out to this resilient community. PCRP has recommended www.gofundme.com/f/MarianasStrong as a reputable donation resource for those interesting in contributing. Organized by Lauren Cabrera—the brains and energy behind Saipan Humane Society—this fund is supporting immediate relief efforts, including the distribution of meals, water, and other essential supplies.
