I have many people ask me why we do not have a plastic bowl option on the bottom of our Signal Filter System! I tell them "Let Signal Filters be your eyes" We can tell you if there is water in your separator directly from your MFD display. We have been in this business 43 years, supplying WIF sensors or (water in fuel sensors) to all the major filter players, as well as heavy duty, on road, off road and marine as well as military. We know where the failures occur, we know what works best, and is the safest design to use inside your boats. Our products have been certified for various uses from ABYC to ABS commercial. If you do a little research you will see that the US Coast Guard feels this way as well.
"Shift to Metal Bowls:
The US Coast Guard is prioritizing the use of metal fuel filter bowls for safety reasons, specifically to prevent damage and potential fuel leaks.
Flame Shields No Longer Accepted:
Flame shields, which were previously used to protect fuel filters from ignition sources, will no longer be accepted as a substitute for metal bowls.
Approval Required for Non-Metal Bowls:
If a fuel filter bowl is not made of steel, it must receive specific approval from the Commandant and might still require a flame shield, depending on the material.
Compliance:
This new requirement means that any fuel filters installed in the future must either be constructed of steel or have specific approval from the Coast Guard if they are made of a different material.
Safety Focus:
The change is part of the USCG's ongoing efforts to enhance safety in fuel systems by minimizing the risk of fuel leaks and potential fire hazards."
