Welcome to our new series, Project Spotlights! This week, we feature SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, one of the largest marine parks in the world and is home to over 100,000 different species of aquatic animals. Throughout this park, you are taken on a tour of 8 environmentally themed realms full of exhibits that feature the aquatic wildlife native to those regions. Satchell Engineering & Associates is proud to be the lead Life Support System engineers for this project, designing over 65 filtration system that ensure healthy water and clear views for every exhibit at the Marine Park. These Life Support System use a variety of techniques to create exceptional water quality, some being sand filtration, deaeration, protein skimming, and UV sterilization.

The San Diego Zoo, Safari Park opened their newly upgraded Elephant Valley exhibit in March of 2026. We are honored to be a part of this project, designing the aquatic Life Support Systems for the 8 elephants housed in the exhibit. The new exhibit features a 175,000-gallon freshwater West pool as well as a 75,000-gallon East Pool especially designed for the comfort and enjoyment of the elephants.
