Warehouse managers should be worried as these two areas in the warehouse are the most congested. This is the reason why your warehouse is unproductive!! 👇👇👇

The survey reports that 27% of the respondents say receiving station is the most congested (up from 24% in 2021), and 22% say it is the shipping dock, up from 21%.

This signals a dire problem! 😰

Most of the warehouses–at least most participating warehouses in this survey–are unproductive!

Congestion in the receiving station means the warehouse is facing either one of these issues:

👷The receiving dock is understaffed.

FedEx Freight puts an end to the 92-year-old classification system!

The LTL carrier launches dimensional pricing for all LTL shipments.

This pilot program, named “space and pace,” will remove the need for the complex NMFC pricing system that has existed since the mid-1930s.

LTL shippers need not worry about their shipments being reweighed and moved to a higher classification. They need not worry about getting the freight class wrong and paying extra for the shipment.

So, this new dimensional pricing model (which is the backbone for pricing other shipments) will also simplify LTL freight pricing. The shippers will be charged on the basis of “space and pace” using “dimension in motion” technology.

What do I think?

It’s a win-win situation for the shippers and FedEx Freight. But, it’s more rewarding for the carrier as they eliminate the headache of classifying shipments, adjusting prices, and wasting time on disputes.

This will make shipping charges accurate and predictable for the shippers. Both parties will now rely on a single source of truth.
