Remembering Marcia Fortin Gesick, One of the True Matriarchs of the SMT Industry, 16 Years Gone
Today, February 11th, marks the 16th anniversary of the passing of Marcia Fortin Gesick, one of the true matriarchs of the SMT (Surface Mount Technology) industry. Marcia's contributions and influence continue to resonate, and her memory remains a source of inspiration for many.
Marcia was a force within the SMT world, shaping the beginning of SMT era and being one of the team who invented solder powder in Branford, Connecticut - first Type-3 ever! Her passion, dedication, and expertise helped shape the industry.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Marcia was a woman of many talents. An expert Theorem Painter, knitter, crafter, and cook, her artistic nature shone brightly. She even worked as a seamstress, with her gowns appearing on the Merv Griffin Show. Her love for classic homes, particularly Victorian architecture, led her to a keen interest in restoration. Most importantly, Marcia was a loving and caring mother and a matriarch to many!
She bravely battled Lupus, a challenge she faced with strength and grace, until her passing in 2009 - she left too soon!
