Yes, we're late to the party… and late posting about the party. But hey, fashionably late is still a vibe, right? Here's proof we work hard and play harder (and that we can occasionally step away from our desks/jobsites). 🍹🎉

A couple weeks ago we celebrated 2024 with our annual New Year party at Topgolf. Rookie of the years were awarded (congrats Reynaldo and Kyle) and the Team Member of the Year G.O.A.T. was awarded to Karina Gutierrez. We also celebrated the newest recipients of the Athena Engineering Titan Jacket - Matt Brock, Matt Page, and Luis Ochoa. These jackets are awarded to team members once they reach their 10-year anniversary!

Our golf games were questionable, but we certainly know how to have a good time!

When disaster strikes, this SoCal community pulls together and that was on display today. We pulled our resources together at and shopped our little hearts out for the people and animals affected by this fire. Thank you to for putting together the most INCREDIBLE food distribution and care package operation. This is what makes - we take care of our own. They’re still collecting and need volunteers for cooking, caravanning and donation collection.

WOW! We’re absolutely blown away by the incredible generosity of our community! 🥹 Thanks to our AMAZING subcontractors, suppliers, employees, friends, and family, we’ve collected hundreds of toys for kids who truly deserve some extra holiday magic this season. 🎅✨

Our Story

Athena Engineering, Inc. helps commercial, industrial, and institutional clients find comfort in their environments and gives them the tools to maintain it. Our in-house Mechanical HVAC construction and Building Automation divisions specialize in notoriously complicated environments like hospitals, laboratories, infrastructure, utility, and operational facilities. Throughout our 33 year history hundreds of clients have trusted our skilled teams to design, construct, and control their environments.

Family - The Backbone of Our Business

Athena Engineering, Inc. was founded in 1984 by Richard & Jannie Chiera as a mechanical construction company . Jannie was pregnant with Athena at the time, making Athena the unofficial third employee from the company’s founding. We were initially based in Covina, CA – specifically in Jannie & Richard’s garage. Lots of good things start in garages. Anywho, Jannie had received a $5,000 tax refund and said “Lets do this!” and Athena Engineering was born (not Athena yet, just the company).

We were initially incorporated as CCE Systems, but our name was changed to Athena Engineering in 1986. To this day, we do not remember what the acronym “CCE” stood for, so it is probably best we changed our name to Athena Engineering.
