The IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS) is the premier annual international meeting for technologists involved in all aspects of microwave theory and practice. It consists of a full week of events, including technical paper presentations, workshops, and tutorials, as well as plenty of opportunities to meet and network with friends both new and old. The symposium also hosts the large

st RF/Microwave commercial exhibition in the world with over 550 Companies! The state-of-the-art when it comes to materials, devices, components, and subsystems as well as design and simulation software and test and measurement equipment debuts on the IMS show floor. Whatever you are looking to acquire, you will find the industry leaders ready and willing to answer your purchasing and technical questions. The IEEE MTT-S Microwave Week has several conferences that are co-located at the same venues. Besides the flagship IMS Conference, Microwave Week will also host the IEEE RFIC and ARFTG conferences.

Don’t miss this turn.

This fast-tracked session features:
• A 100-175 GHz frequency extension module for VNAs
• A terahertz detector using a novel frequency modulation scheme
• An optical frequency division architecture combining optical synthesis with tunable microwave sources
• An active Ka-band phased array demonstration from low Earth orbit aboard a small satellite

Rosalind Agasti, Graduate Research Student at the Advanced Radar Research Center (ARRC) at the University of Oklahoma, first discovered her passion for electromagnetics through an undergraduate antennas course and a project exploring the communication systems behind the Mars rovers Perseverance and Curiosity.

Now working in RF hardware and communication systems research, she’s driven by the process of turning theory into fully developed prototypes and helping mentor the next generation of engineers along the way.

Most RF startups don’t fail because of bad ideas. They fail because development cycles, funding pressure, and time-to-market move faster than most teams can keep up with. That’s why the IMS2026 Startup Pavilion is focused on the conversations shaping what’s next in RF and microwave innovation.

Expect to see:
• Panels on AI, digital twins, New Space, and defense tech
• Live startup demos and 5-minute deep dives
• Conversations on funding, IP, deployment, and profitability
• Opportunities to connect with investors, partners, and industry leaders

Most people use this every day and don’t think twice about it.
Until it doesn’t work.

Behind that moment is a shift from fixed systems to software-defined radio and now toward systems that can adapt in real time and handle growing demand.

The expectations have changed. So has the work that makes it all function. If you’re in this space, share this. More people should understand what goes into “it just works.”
